Why on earth would they want to go V10?

in my neck of the woods, the primary offenders aren't young kids in their daddy's Ferraris, but middle aged leather-clad "outlaws" on their Harleys and kids in hopped-up pickup trucks, usually with a "Hick Life" sticker on the back (although they're faux hicks of course).

And those aren't even enjoyable noises. Nothing like a V12. More like a lawn mower engine amplified FIFTY BILLION TIMES! (with apologies to Monty Python).

The bikers in particular just suck. They ride in huge packs. It has totally made me hate bikes.

I am completely with you on that. I was in London for a brief period of time last month and I found many locals going down side streets at ridiculous speeds and revving unnecessarily. The odd thing is that the lawmakers in London are blaming the noise on the Arab population but in my time there I did not see a SINGLE Arab misbehaving.

Agreed! I think you have to be disciplined with these cars and you have to use good judgment when its time to open them up.

I have to say I usually try to avoid doing this in my cars. Once in a while I feel exuberant and I get a little carried away but never in residential neighborhoods and its really only on rural routes. And I would not do that in a city where the sound would bounce around all the buildings- not everyone would enjoy it. I think you have to realize that.

However, I don't think we should paint with too broad a brush. I've seen drivers of - fill in the blank- acting like idiots. Should we outlaw those cars?

I'm a believer in you live your life. I don't want the government to tell me how to live my life. I think there is TOO MUCH regulation already going on and TOO MUCH action by people trying to legislate away things they don't like- my criticism is it usually comes from people who would rather enforce their opinions than trying to improve their own lives or being happy for someone else.

I wonder what will be left when we've turned everything over to the vastly superior Google/Apple/Microsoft AI and the robots run everything and all we are left with is telling others what we don't like.

I won't care because I'll be driving my Ferraris- :)

Absolutely agreed- and heavy commercial vehicles that seem to lack any suspension compliance.

Maybe we can increase employment by having new government employees standing at street corners with "quiet please" placards a-la pro golf

In my neck of the woods it's not the arabs, but mainland chinese kids in their aventadors doing neutral redline revs to generate flames from the tail pipes.

Those that drives Ferraris will stay in 1st gear foreeeeeeeeeeeeeever.

Wouldn't want to touch the 2nd hand exotics with those kid of owners with a 2 mile pole.

I think for NA car, it's better to stay on 1st gear longer than to stay at 7th doing low speed. There is a rev limiter cut-off, it won't cause any damage.

Sorry beg to differ Harleys sound great for what they are
Plus they are financially attainable by 2/3rds of our hard working
citizens. I say late them enjoy and I salute them for doing so - just IMO

Lawn mowers, Harley Davidsons, etc. what has this got to do with the thread about the F12 VS?
If certain wish to debate new laws that will enter into effect in a year, then could they please do so in the appropriate forum??

    Thanks!!

So right and really annoys me. I never understand why many owners want their F car always to be running with the baffles open in town as they accelerate from light to light or up narrow streets. Truly annoying, pathetic and a good way to rub people's noses in it. Unedifying.

Add in the terrible noise of 'screamin Eagles' on a Harley, sorry that is truly tragic as at least an F car goes as well as it sounds.

Incidentally, back on topic I have just hear a UK price for the VS which so shocked me, I am seeking confirmation. It makes me think twice about taking the car.

An awful lot more than the euro price which is why I am hesitant before posting in case it is nonsense, as I can only hope it is.

Take a stab at what would be reasonable given we know the euro price

OK, you've got my attention as they say in the movies. I reckoned earlier with the usual extras low-mid 400K GBP. But they'd need to squeeze the run to closer 599/499 units. What's the number (s)!

I really don't like posting supposition on this forum, setting hares running, and only post what I can corroborate and right now it is only what I am told by one well informed source and am seeking to triangulate!

No worries. I understand. Based on what I paid for a 599 GTB new and a 599 GTO new, I'm assuming the VS will be at least 60% more expensive than a loaded standard F12. Hence my guess of a low 400s GBP base in the UK. Assuming the VS is that good, can't blame Ferrari for maximising its yield.

From the front angle it looks really good. The problem is located in the rear!
