Thank you Dom for this detailed research. I note that the RM 512M is listed as having had rear end damage which may explain its slightly low (in the context) estimate. Interesting to see the results.

Regarding the eBay comps: no one should and evidently does not buy TR's on eBay. It's kind of a wasted effort to even consider what's going on with TR's on eBay as any sort of barometer on the Testarossa market.

Meanwhile check this out: a great example at a market price. This will probably sell within a week or two. 1989 Ferrari Testarossa

Here's what appears to be a high condition 2 '86 that Ebayed for $115k yesterday. Not bad. Seems any decent Tr should go past $100k no problems nowadays. 1986 Testarossa

Probably a modest project car at that price. It could be fun to restore.

I think you are correct - this one here in Canada is a euro, and with the exchange rate right now is around the 165US mark , and from a dealer as opposed to private eBay seller car you listed. They seem to hover around this Mark, some selling sooner than others of course.

    You mean Monterey Mel?! :p

Considering there`s 6 Daytonas, a dozen or more 250 variants, not to mention I think I counted 11 Countach`s, there aren`t all that many Testarossa`s up for grabs.

Just 4 originals and 5 later variants.

Kinda funny how we are used to them now and it looks a little odd with out them.

Back on track, Haggarty values should be updated here shortly. If they are smart, they will hold off until Monterrey Etc. and see how they affect values etc.

Damn...I wonder if that'll look like a smart buy 36 months from now. I can understand how the guys who always wanted a Dino but missed the boat must feel now...it's somewhat sad that these cars will price the real motor heads out of the market due to "investors" jumping in. Very sad.

Personally, I don't feel like celebrating the price rises for that very reason

It is only "very sad", if you believe everyone is entitled to ownership to everything of which they covet.

Which has never been the case since the beginning of time.

I'm sure there were early gearheads that coveted Spartacus's chariot, but were priced out of the market by Roman speculators.

Correct me if I'm wrong but new Ferraris are quite expensive too. Does that mean that nobody who buys one is a real motor head? Do real motor heads only buy cheap cars? Who does Ferrari actually make its cars for? I have just spent the evening at a Ferrari event in Switzerland, full of motor heads, and as usual everyone was either rich or really rich or really, really rich (apart from me, journalist along for the ride, though I am lucky enough to be an owner also). I don't have a problem with not ever being able to afford a Daytona Spider. I won't ever have a G5 or a mansion on Cap Ferrat/The Hamptons either, and cheers to those who do.
