Nice pick up. I won a 6309 and love it. Can't beat the old Seiko divers. Great on the wrist. History. Design. Quality. Huge value for money.
Hey Chris, lets play guess the watch... Take a picture from the front but not close enough to read the dial And then will play guess the watches Cheers
Just put my Pepsi bezel Seiko SKX009 on a Strapcode Super Jubilee bracelet yesterday and it really dresses up the watch! It has solid end links and screw pins, really nice bracelet! Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
And it looks good in the box too! Another round of "guess the watches" if you want, but no looking back at my previous posts Image Unavailable, Please Login
It has probably been discussed to death, but what are people's thoughts on watch winder boxes? I bought one years ago, but the last two pics of big collections have been watches sitting in watch boxes. Not a bad thing to leave my Rolex sit there when I am not wearing it?? I may not wear it for weeks on end sometimes. I forgot to ask the girls at the dealer to see what they thought. Does it really matter if they sit there on display? Or do I need to keep turning it to keep the movement moving/lubricated.
I'm pro watch winder... Even the ones in the safe are always in a winder. Obviously it's a personal decision lots of nice collections on this form with no winders. Just my 2 cents One other thing PAP since your new watch has a date it's nice to just put it on.... again just my opinion. Cheers
Think of your watch like you would your car. You wouldn't want your car sitting on a dyno for days/weeks on end racking up miles or wearing out moving parts... On the other side, you don't want it sitting in your garage getting flat spots on your tires, rubber rotting alway or valve springs staying compressed on certain cylinders... You need to wear it, you need to drive it but it doesn't have to be done in excess either way.... Your watch shouldn't sit in a safe box or sock draw years on end but if it's a few weeks inbetween, in my opinion no need for a winder. Unless of course, you're to lazy to set/change the date, put it in a winder... Then again, if you have an extensive watch collection where you would need a watch winder, you re not a lazy person ;-)
At the end of the day the day, your watch was made to be worn. Wear in good health and care for it they way you feel is best!
Ask yourself this, do you think stores wind all their watches on display ? I think not ... And some pieces can sit for well over a year if not more before they sell... I think winders are cool if you can't be bothered with winding up and resetting time and date , but I don't think they are really that necessary... My U-boat sits unused for long periods as it's more of a casual /jeans type of watch and yet has always kept great time in the 4+ years I've had it. Same goes with my panny ...
Hello and thanks to all for your opinions. I totally get that I don't want my watch in a winder 'moving' the movement unnecessarily as that will shorten it's life. Never thought about that until now. The car dyno thing makes perfect sense to me being I am a mechanic. But it would also be nice to slip it on each time with the perfect time and date set. But I am not lazy as Andrew has suggested, so I think I will leave it sit on display and will set the time and date each time I wear it. I would normally wear my watch every 4 days off, but sometimes I get busy outside with cars, yard work and it will not get worn, so it will sit again for at least another 4 days. So it might not get worn for weeks on end and sometimes I sit around and relax, but obviously I don't have a watch on. I appreciate the comments again, I will go with the majority here and leave the watch sit in my winder box on display.
