I'm looking for a picture of what exact jack roll kit comes with a 1983 308qv. Any help would be greatly appreciated! : )

To START the discussion, and having interest in tool rolls I know these could get "very interesting" very soon (or somewhat heated), I enclose a picture of the REPRODUCTION jack kit EUROSPARES in the U.K was proposing about three years ago.

It seems rather complete and correct to my eye, except for the security warning triangle that:
    a. I believe the US cars didn't have
    b. I believe for Euro cars it should be a "Costaplastik".

The "rotor" bulb box is usually associated with the 308s, although some 328s got these also, as already discussed.
AND as also already discussed, be reminded that the Main/dipped bulb in the center "cradle" of the bulb box is also peculiar to Euro cars; US cars having sealed beams, their bulb box has a spare spark plug at that place instead.

The jack should be BLACK for QVs and 328, yellow for carbed cars.

Alright gentlemen, I have started the discussion...

As to the triangle I think that you're correct. When taking European delivery of a couple of BMWs we were told that if we wanted to keep the warning triangle we should take it home with us as otherwise it would be removed from the car before US redelivery.

My 83 Euro RHD QV produced in Sept 82 has the yellow type jack with grey plastic around the lug wrench etc, yellow boxed "costaplastik" emergency triangle, green cover/black base bulb box, black Z shaped window crank and two spark plugs inside a black plastic pouch with yellow leather ties, will post a picture when I get a chance.

Ya some people say the black one is and some people say the yellow one is. I don't want to spend the money on the wrong one lol but the previous owner did leave the green fuse/bulb box and the light that plugs into the cigarette lighter in the car. So I guess that's one less thing I have to hunt down!

The jack is yellow for carbed cars; black for QVs and 328. No question about it. It Is only for the two-valve injected and a few of the vert early QVs That it Is more difficult.

Just dug the jack kit out and took some photos. The triangle is in the car and not accessible at the moment. My car is having assembly number #6, so a very early one.

Oh yes, a QV built in september 82 is a very, very, early QV...assy # 6 proves it, so I am not surprised that you still have a yellow jack.

PS: unless you've got it, but it is outside the picture, you are missing the battery lifting strap ?

I don't have that strap. The owner's manual and spare parts catalogue of Euro QV do not include the strap. It shows up in 328 manuals. Not certain for US cars.

I would use the spare parts catalogue more as a guide than a definitive reference, especially for tool rolls, which evolved during the production without the catalogue being updated or modified.

For tool rolls and for jack bags, the best reference is usually comparing with a similar-positioned car in the production line, especially should you be lucky enough to know a "first owner" one!

And of course starting a dedicated thread on F-Chat...

I understand the uncertainty in the correctness of these documents. The question remained that if any QV owner especially one owner cars or next owner having definitely answers to have the battery lifting strap. So far I haven't been lucky enough to see or met or heard one ;-)

Perhaps anyone with a very-late produced "two valve injected" could also chime in: very often, the transition from one variant to another was not automatically the transition point for tool rolls, etc...so this could be interesting.

P.S: the lifting strap, or at least "a" lifting strap, is rather useful when you have to lift the battery from deep down inside the car...

I believe my jack kit is complete. I can take pictures of it later if someone wants to see what I have in my 85 QV, assembly 540?

If not, you can still get a used set from Eurospares for £495 I believe.
