Here's a pic of the head unit. And also a random pic my son took of us with the car packed driving down the highway on our trip! Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
My old Clarion unit had a video AUX input which I wired up to a front camera (a Kenwood!). You just select AUX in when you want to use the front camera. The nice thing about this is it also works whilst you are driving!
That's a good idea. I will look into whether mine has one or not. Otherwise I could just put a toggle switch in for front or rear composite inputs and switch it at will.
Great song, have it on my USB Stick in the Maranello Journey - Separate Ways I love driving the Maranello with great songs (like this) in the background. Daniel
It will happen but I need to sell my Maserati first! My wife is going crazy tripping over all the Italian cars here...
A nice problem to have! Regarding wiring up the front/rear cameras to a toggle switch, most head units activate the rear camera when they receive a reverse signal. I connected the reverse lights wire to my head unit so that the rear camera automatically comes on when reversing. The front camera was wired to a separate input, hence it was manually selected when I wanted to check the nose of the car whilst moving forward or in neutral.
Yes, thank you. I would wire it accordingly. What I would do is a double pole, double throw, multiple contact switch. So when in the "reverse cam" position, it would only show the image if actually in reverse. Then, on the "front cam" position, it would show the front cam (and force the camera to think the reverse lever was also engaged via a dummy 12V signal). As such, if driving in forward gear and not wanting the camera to show, I would simply leave it in reverse mode. Hadn't thought it through from a wiring perspective though until you brought that up so thanks!
All four of my Pininfarina cars together for a quick pic as I get ready to put the 612 up on the lift for an oil change and accessory belt tightening. Their first picture together as a family! Image Unavailable, Please Login
Dammit! Blew a hose today and had to have the car towed to my shop. I think it is the very large coolant hose that runs underneath the plenum. I probably should have replaced it when I did the rebuild! But... I am considering my luck good. Thank goodness this didn't happen on my 4,700 mile road trip. That would have been a game ender! I will take some pics of the confirmed issue, hopefully tomorrow when I rip off the plenum.
Wow, I am surprised you messed up on that one. Since you had the whole thing apart, not changing a 9 year old (and otherwise inaccessible) hose was a major oversight. I'm dreading when mine is going to need to be done.

Well, I haven't had a coolant hose go bad on any car in over two decades. I did replace the curved hose after you guys mentioned to do so but no one mentioned the larger hose. Such is life. I will open her up today and hopefully know exactly what happened!
And I love the pricing on this obviously terribly constructed OEM hose. Ricambi has it for $256. Ebay at $160, Eurospares at $109. It is a pretty generic 1 ft large diameter hose. Nice margins on that puppy!
Taz had reported that the new OEM hoses were now silicone, not rubber, so they should be good to go for many more years than the cheap ones we had on the 456's & 550's that were known to fail. Nevertheless, you want a really good silicone replacement hose in there that's rated for coolant duty. Dave Helms' from SRI has the right stuff for this, but I don't think he sells the big hose separately - only as part of a kit that costs well north of $1000. Daniel from Ricambi resells Dave's stuff, so he might be more sympathetic about "breaking" a kit to sell you just the big hose.
So, here's the question. Do I replace every darn hose on the car or just the ones that are tough to get at? I.E. should I replace the two identical ones attaching to the radiator? Has anyone had a problem with either of those? Also, what about the heater hoses? I can understand the ones under the plenum getting abused by the lingering heat, etc. but I am not sure why the rest of the hoses would be at such poor service. Thought? Thanks...
The small hoses that serve as cooling system vents need replacing too - they have such small ID's that they get clogged.
