930 Turbo Carrera

It was black a month ago- amazing you could do a color change paint job on a car that quickly and do good job, of course car was listed as untouched -

 

Talking about nice colors,i see the caribe blue on that colorcard..
The first one i see for sale sinds a long time,did not last long this one.
They posted and sold in instaly,called right after it went on.
Wrong wheels but a very nice base.

I have wanted to know this too. Asked a lot of people a lot of questions. I don't think even Porsche know?

I have heard claims that 15 of the 75 cars where RHD. So maybe 20 or 30 of the homoligation cars are RHD?

 

The day before my visit to the factory museum I saw this '77 Turbo Carrera on the streets of Stuttgart. The owner was very nice and spoke English. He mentioned he is a multiple 930 owner and "imported" this car over 10 years ago. It was a late VIN car with cork interior. I didn't miss my '79 as much after seeing this car..

Looking for info on these seats.

I see they have the early round release knobs on the sides.

They obviously need recovering. Are they 930 correct?

Needs to see reclining mechanism but bolsters don't look correct to me, maybe 928 seats?

Here is a pic of a 74-79 sport seat, the sport seats in the 75 930 used the round knob but I think the rest of the seat is the same.

I have had a reply on DDK, 36 Rhd 3lt turbo cars delivered to Uk, so including the 41 Aus del the count is up to 77 so far.I would think with these sort of numbers above that a total of around 100 Rhd 3lt cars (75-77) could be close to correct.

 

So did Japan get 3lt cars?

 

Yes. A few have sold recently through Symbolic.

 

None in 1975, 28 in 1976 and 49 in 1977 3.0s to Japan from published report from Osprey Publishing LTD. London 1981.

 

Minerva Blue is my second favorite color after Viper Green Metallic. Beautiful car. Both seem to work so well with the black accents around the car.

 

In Japan customers prefer LHD models instead of RHD, as "imported" cars are of "higher value", at least more expensive.

Even english models were imported as LHD.

 

I remember that at I read some where that a few were also imported into South Africa. I've tried to find the reference, but am still searching...

Ice Green was the 1st 930 I had ever driven. It was a 1976 at a specialty car dealer back in the late eighties. I tried like hell to justify the purchase but bought a newer 911 S/C instead (and drove it 9 years).

I liked the S/C but always thought that I had missed the boat.

Two years ago I heard a story about a Viper Green 930 3.0 with a green interior. It was spotted once in the Netherlands in the nineties and it was said to be the only green/green 3.0 Turbo in this color ever produced. I tried to locate it, but could not find it. Until....

$25,000 if memory serves me right. Thirty thousand was a lot of money to me then & I recall capping a car purchase at that.

I bought the 1983 S/C for $10k and a 944 trade in ~ then sold it for $16,500 all those years later. I remember having spent $43k (including purchase) over the life of my long ownership on that S/C.

 

Would someone mind posting photos of the rear wiper assembly, particularly the through the deck transition, both underside and above. I believe I now have all of the pieces, but am not managing to make the transmission through the deck fit.
