Hi Gang, Shopping a new toy to replace my 850hp 997TT. I had not considered 458 yet due to the impression Ferraris are more mileage sensitive than the others and also have super high maintenance as ferrari of old. Is this true? Did you look at 650 and Huracan. What were your thoughts?
Ferrari is the one with really less engine problems and will also durable with high mileage and with the 7 years maintenance the service cost are low and after the 7 years the 458 will perhaps in the service cost range of a F430 and the F430 is on the level from a 997tt.
Huracan will be the most reliable by far. It's essentially an Audi R8 with Lamborghini price. IMO Ferraris are much more mileage sensitive in terms of depreciation, but thats mainly because the residuals are so good for undriven cars. Residuals aren't nearly as good on a Huracan or 650S, and so the mileage is less of an impact.
Ditto. Ferrari will be more mileage sensitive but I'm guessing you still come out ahead based on how McClarens and Lambos depreciate.
It's seems the mclarens have slowed the depreciation a bit. Prices seemed to have stabilized. And Huracans are holding strong as to their ask prices. This is a tough decision as all are great cars with each their own character.
i recently test drove the huracan and 650s and own a speciale. i love my speciale but if i had to choose between those 3 i would choose the 650s . its the fastest and feel exotic. The hurucans interior didnt do anything for me. Also love the doors on the Mc. The hurucan had to many weird pops every time you lift off the throttle...
With this global market correction I'd wait to see where the chips fall as all these cars could become a lot cheaper to own in coming months. If that's not of concern, I think 458 prices are headed down a bit regardless as more and more dogmatic 458/NA fans are coming around to the 488 as I predicted in the spring so you might be able to pick one up for cheap and drive the hell out of it (speciale excluded for now). The 650s prices are crazy low already so I suspect unless they come out with a new model again soon they may be at a floor and a good time to buy???
458 for me, owned huracan for 8 months, didnt do it for me. its value also dropped like a rock. cant speak on the Mclaren but seems its not as emotional and charismatic as the other 2. id buy the 458 spider again if i can
The Lambo is like a bulldog. Looks only a mother could love. And a very expensive breed indeed. Went to pck up some chemicals fot the hot tub. Their bulldog came up and sniffed me, then started barking. Maybe he smelled someting. The 458 or our cat. Lol
I moved from 458 to huracan. Both great cars however the lambo is much more user freindly in relation to the sat nav, bluetooth and the 4wd gives a lot more confidence. I've got the race exhaust, here is some clips i took: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Los5KQMyFZo https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FRGPbauSb0w https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_ly81T_euzE
That sounds fantastic! Heading to London today, always see a few Huracans while there and I just love the sound.
Sounds amazing. All these cars are so good. Its really more a question of what you want vs avoiding any glaring problems because there are none.
I can't help but think that the pops and crackles on the huracan just sound so fake. Have driven behind it with a 458 and just didn't sound authentic enough
Not true. Even standard exhaust sounds amazing in Corsa mode with WOT . I own one and considered upgrading exhaust but learned that it already sounded good with standard or sport exhaust...
Sounds good but too tame imo. 458 sounds much better than stock or sports exhaust, race exhaust is the way to go I've found
So I Finley drove a 10 458. Super sharp steering and awesome sound. But it felt very high strung as I saw 4k while cruising on 75th gear! Also felt a bit slow compared to my 997TT and of course 650s. But I might be able to live with that as I'm not a street racer. Do they all have 7 year maintenance or just new ones? Also I assume the warranty is 7 also?
