Should one get new or used? Price difference?

Should one wait for the new turbo version? Would make a difference in hp at 8000 ft. 24% loss at 8000 ft.

    Must have options?
Would like ac seats. Panoramic roof.

Can you put all weather tires on?

Can I get my skis inside? Not a requirement but would be nice.

How reliable? Dealer is 3.5 hours away. It took me two weeks for FoD to return my Fcar. This would be ok in summer but wouldn't work in winter as a dd.

Anybody disconnect the baffles in the muffler for louder sound? Can you hear the exhuast with windows open/closed?

    - check used if you can find something in the colour combo you want
    - I don't think they will ever make a turbo V12
    - must haves are parking sensors cause its a big car. Panoramic roof and Apple Carplay are nice but only on the more recent models.
    - back seats fold down for long skis to fit. Also depends on how many people you plan to carry in the car
    - mine was very reliable as a DD
    - mine had the sports exhaust which has a lovely note. It's audible, but windows down is always the better way to go, weather permitting

    Three Places
Soto zeros are the key for your winters.
Mine is noticeably down on power at 7000 ft but still great.
Car with stock exhaust is very quiet inside due to heavy sound proofing. I opted for Novitec. Problem solved.

Doubt TTV12, and TTV8 immediately drives me back to BMW and Benz.

Ferrari changes way it builds cars - Business Insider

In addition to the new platform, the "Automobile" report claims Ferrari is likely to continue its engine downsizing efforts. The new Dino, for example, is expected to feature a V-6 engine, and the FF replacement is said to forgo a V-12 in favor of a new V-8 engine shared with the 488’s replacement. Remember, one of the biggest challenges facing Ferrari is delivering excellent performance while reducing fuel consumption and emissions to a minimum.

I think the FF is among the astonishingly good cars Ferrari makes. Controversial for sure, and definitely polarizing...seems you either love it, or hate it.

Seems that most owners love it....

    to your questions:

The FF is great with the V12, and like all NA engines it will offer less at altitude. It has 640 to start with. If they put the 488 engine in, I'm going to assume a big retune to offer more torque - but honestly that V12 is part of the magic. Plus, if you wait, you're automatically buying new.

Options? the FF now has pretty much most of what you'd say is "mandatory" as "standard". You can add the lift, front camera, et al - the rest is all about what you like in terms of trim and colors. Pano roof is pricey, but if you like it.... Ventilated seats are nice.

We have run Sottozeroes and they work very well in cold, and I'd say up to around 2-3 inches of snow, and packed snow. The car in snow mode is actually quite impressive. The limitation in heavy snow is ground clearance (but you can use the lift and get a bit more, just stay below 35...). the car is great in low-grip, but it's not an off-roader.

Skis will fit. Would be cramped with adults in back on anything but a short ride.

Our TWO FF's have been very very reliable. We've had a few squawks, but nothing that has required instant attention. Mechanically and operationally, they have been perfect.

New vs. Used? Obviously, used will save you a lot of money....though the available inventory is low. Forget about MSRP, as the pricing and ordering logic in 2012 vs. 2013 was very different. If you want Pano roof, it will be more recent car. Might be hard(er) to find the spec you want, but if you can find it, likely it will be a good deal. (get the extended warranty).

On new, one thing to look at is FFS is offering pretty aggressive rates and terms on closed-end leases....pretty compelling. You can debate the lease vs. buy, finance-or-not, but it's worth examining if you're in the market for an FF, especially a newer one. You can do 18, 36, et al months.

Given where you live, it would a great pick, other than altitude effect

    Good luck

Ferrari of Denver has a nicely optioned Silverstone/beige 2014 FF with <8000 miles. MSRP $353k...asking price $309. What do you think?

2014 cars with lower miles are everywhere. That's way too much.

Driving them hard is not the point. They are MADE to be driven hard. Miles is the thing and year for the warranty.

If you plan on keeping it a buy is best, 4% for 84 mo from FFS with top credit.

Silverstone cars are everywhere, not a popular seller in my research. This one is like new. Very clean. I know both owners. Asking 239 .... 219 might do it. Plus you want a warranty. "New Power" is 6500 a year.

There are nice 2012 cars with 5000 miles or less for around 200-215 from reputable dealers. The black one in Long Island is a nice black car. 204 gets it. http://www.ferrarili.com/used-inventory/index.htm?listingConfigId=auto-all&make=FERRARI&model=FF&compositeType=&year=&internetPrice=&odometer=&start=0&sort=&facetbrowse=true&searchLinkText=SEARCH&showFacetCounts=true&showRadius=false&showSubmit=true&showSelections=true

I agree, other than I've seen Silverstone actually be more preferred....maybe it's variable by geography.

I think the Denver car is priced a bit rich for the market. Phil, one idea might be to get the Ferrari Market Letter, I'd imagine almost every FF for sale in the US is listed and you can see what is out there. It's mostly dealers, which means the asking prices will be higher and you'll have to haggle a bit; on the other hand, you can also work an extended warranty into the package. Sounds like you have a relationship with Denver.

Part of the joy of these cars is getting them the way you like them - eg. Pano roof - so I'd try and find the car(s) you like first.

The black one at FLI will trade for much closer to $190k... Dealers have a hard time to move them...

I got my '14 FF last January with significantly more discount than that and the car had 145 miles or so on it, only two test drives as it too was their demo car. My '12 FF was Silverstone, beautiful car, but my '14 is Silver Nurburgring, a very light silver, and looks like a totally different car. The Silverstone hides many of the curves and vents, the Nurburgring accentuates the curves and vents and is my new favorite color.

And you can save a BUNDLE buying used.

Silver Nurburing is my first choice. Maybe cuiou interior. Beige shows the dirt so easily (my 458 spider).
    Pano roof.
Carbon inside. LED wheel + console etc.
All weather tires. Have Mich Pilot SS all weathers on my RS5. Love em.
    Calipers? Yellow, silver or Black?
    Shields?
    Black dash.
    Black carpet.
    Black or silver stitching, cavallinos.
    Air vented seats.
    Lift.
    Rear camera.
    Sports exhaust.
    Wheels?

    Any suggestions? Thanks.

I'd bundle in lift as a nice to have but not essential. It's more a peace of mind thing.

Mine didn't have it and I live in central London which has hundreds of speed bumps and steep car park gradients. The FF managed fine.

I heard that due to tighter emission controls, the NA engine maybe a dying breed and as a result cars with these engines may see an increase in price.

No question. It is a question of MUST HAVE OPTIONS.

Bought my 458 spider Pre_owned with 851 miles. The car was over optioned but nothing i really needed. No lift. Clearnce much better than 360 spider. No problems. So if i could save $100k the color of the exterior and interior would be the most important...LED wheel required. 2012 or later for the service and ability to get a warranty required. But if i ordered it would be pretty loaded. Pano roof, ventilated seats, premium stereo, lift, carbon fiber inside, sports exhaust.

Wheels are the easiest thing to change. Would need to live with it awhile before doing anything to the exhaust. Probably cant hear much with the windows up. Not gonna drive much with the windows down in the winter and i would drive the 458 spider in the summer which sounds fantastic.

I live at 8000 ft. We get tons of snow. There are times when the snow is so deep it would be nice to have a lift.

I do not have a lift on the 458 spider. Very few times it would have come in handy. But it is a fair weather car...stored in winter. And Winter is a different kettle of fish here.

    Phil,

I purchased my 2015 new from Ferrari of Denver. MSRP was $345k and I paid $295k. Seemed like a good deal. I go back and forth between Denver and Beaver Creek. The FF is a beast in the snow but you do want to get the lift. I actually find myself using the FF in the snow more than my G63. It's just way too much fun.

I found an old pair of my daughters skis lying around so I threw them in the back of the FF just so you could see how they fit. I think they're 160's and they fit fine. I'm heading up to Beaver Creek in a couple of weeks and I'll try putting my skis in the back to see how they fit. I'm 6'4" and have some long powder skis.

The 2014 FF that FoD is selling is nice but it's over priced. But I do think they'd take much less than asking price. It's a beautiful car but it has some hard demo miles on it. I know, I know, they're meant to be driven hard, but still…

This one at Ron Tonkin. 2014. 281 miles.

    viewinventory.default

I would pay 270 tops for this. But if you pay more it's still a nice car. They had it at 319 before, now 309. It's a buyers market so be aggressive.

Loaded, like new. Everything you want.

Warranty may be good for a full 3 years if it has not been titled. That's worth money.
