These years 1980-85 are often mistaken as a period on non development for the 930. In fact these years saw a fair amount of development of the 3.3 turbo charged engine. As well as revised suspension and fuel consumption. The 1983 911 turbo with lower boost newer k-jetronic injection and a new wastegate made the 911 turbo have a more linear power delivery much like the 1986 911 turbo that re-emerged in the U.S. market. Gone was the on and off boost of the 82 and down 930. In 1985 a new suspension made the car more forgiving in the corners and cured some of the cars tendencies for over and under steer. Many changes to the Interior as well came in this time frame. I have always been attracted to these 1980 to 1985 R.o.W 930s. They have a mysterious quality to them. If only that they were never intended for the U.S. market. I wanted to started a thread devoted to these 930s that I feel are special too.

I had almost forgotten about Blaupunkt BEQ-5's, I had one in one of my cars back then. That thing always seemed to be in the way.

I was waiting for someone to start this thread! Finally a place to refer folks when they wander into the Turbo Carrera or 78/79 threads :)

I think I'm going to start the 911 Turbo Thread: 1986-1989, followed by 964 Turbo and of course my personal favorite... 993 TT thread

It's good to see the 930, whether 75-77, 78-79, 80-85, 86-88, or 89 finally getting their due. Great cars that were kept down by the Boulevard cruiser nonesense.

It is interesting seeing these RoW interiors as it appears they used the same glove box assembly on US and RoW cars. For us, we can open the glove box from the driver's seat. For RoW owners, you really have to stretch as the knob is all the way to the left.

After 22 years, I think it is time for new tires :) I want to run the widest tire I can on the stock fuchs. I was thinking 265/45/16 and 225/50/16 any thoughts and pics. Mine is an 85 ROW. 225's in the rear look a little whimpy
