I have a 1994 348 spider with a non functioning speedo. After checking the Ferrari chat archives. I have checked and cleaned the connections at the speedo, multi pin connector, and the speed sensor connection, and it still won't function. With the engine on or off the needle sits at 10 mph. I called Ricambi to order P/N 116987 Speed Sensor and was told it has been on backorder for two years. Does anybody know of an interchangeable part for replacement. or any other options?
Thanks for any, and all help.

I'm told, and I've read, that the 355 sensor is the same. Only the connectors are different. Not sure about which wire goes where yet since I haven't checked the schematics.

Thanks for the response. I called Racambi and they said that was also on back order and unavailable.

I recently bought one from the UK, low price too. But it did take about a week to receive.

Can't remember where from but I'll look up my receipt this evening.

Eurospares has them. Genuine Ferrari, brand new. I bought one for my 355 a few months ago. I paid a little under $200 but the exchange rate has gone up a bit since.

Okay, that's them. I paid $216 back in June but the sensor is on sale now. At the time, these guys were the only ones where the part wasn't listed as "back order" or similar.

Here's the new 355 pulse sensor that I bought from Scuderia Car Parts and a donated 348 sensor (thanks Phil).

The used one was reported to have an intermittent electrical connection within the black connector itself, and why I cut it open.

Other than the connector, the only difference is the yellow wire:
    • 348 = yellow/black
    • 355 only yellow

The second wire is brown on both sensors.

So, common sense to me is brown/brown and yellow/yellow/black.

I just test drove the car and the speedometer is working as it should.

Thanks much for all your help. I now have one on order in the UK. I never would have looked that far, without the help you provided.

Just as a follow up, Euro spares has them on back order, and Scuderia is out of stock, but thinks they will have them in a week or two, and will call when they arrive.

Thanks again for all the good help.
