I have owned many of the 70-81 "rare" Trans Am cars, y82, y84, x87 and so on. I wanted a 2002 last year produced Trans Am as a bucket list item. Had to have the 6 speed manual. Most of the cars were black or silver with ugly grey interior, so I had a mean task to find what I wanted: a blue and tan 6 speed Ram Air ws6 car with low miles.

Took 8+ months before I found her: 19500k miles original with no mods and an elderly one owner car at that. Got my eyes on several "exotics" so I need to sell the Trans Am to make room. AC is ice cold, all maintenance has been done. (Car still had original tires on it when I bought it.) All GM and AC Delco parts were used. No aftermarket parts.

My understanding is that 74 blue with tan leather ws6 ram air 6 speed cars were made in 2002. This car was made the week of 9/11/01 also according to the build info and stickers.

Car specs: 2002 Pontiac Firebird Trans Am.
Ram Air, WS6, 6 speed, HURST shifter (factory), All options: AC cruise control, power everything, T tops, traction control Monsoon premium stereo, and so on.

19700 original miles and counting. NO modifications.

Clear GA title in hand showing original miles.

    Price: $20,000.

    Location: Savannah Georgia 31407.

Overseas sales welcome. Will work with your freight forward company.

Questions: PM me, email me (see profile links) or call 912 441 2637.

    Thanks. Michael.

Maserati's interior group is no match for Pontiac excitement. My 2 elementary-schoolers their hearts are set on the Ferrari California convertible. If business picks up, the fam will have their Cali, and me having used to be a Pontiac guy, could see myself in a T/A or maybe another GrandTurismo.

Thanks! My euro car buddies have made fun of me incessantly for buying it. However, it really does run and drive really well, especially for what it is and when it was made. Having owned the early, mid and late 70's era f bodies, GM really improved a lot.

If you jumped out of a 77 4 speed Trans Am into one of these, you would be amazed how tight and well built the 2002 Ram Air car is !! LOL. I hope it finds a new home before the end of the year, I just had to check it off my life bucket list.

Hope the fact I have only had it for a few months is not a turn off to anyone. Car is great. Inspections welcome.

Beautiful car! I sold these new in 2002 and I can attest that that is a rare (but imho wonderful) combo indeed! Wish I were in the market. GLWS.

The 6 speed in Pontiacs was always hard to find, I guess because of the higher number of Camaros being made.

When I got the Certification Letter on my 25th Trans Am, only 128 cars for ALL of 1994, had the transmission.

Like you, I had to have it!

I bought one with the 4 speed automatic and did not think it let the car do it's best.

A big car with a small interior, the critics quipped!

For a long time it was my only car that HAD a back seat!
Babies would fall right asleep to the rumble of the engine.

My 25th did have a lot of special features..

    TEN stereo speakers! WTF!!

Also a pretty cool air lumbar system in the seats...you could narrow up the side bolsters, as well as play with the lower back support.

That was nice on long drives.

My parents made me a deal in 9th grade....get a full paid scholarship to a good academic school, and we can use part of your college fund to buy you the car of your choice (within reason of course). Fast forward to the spring of 1995 and I was the extremely proud owner of a brand new, bright red, 6 speed Trans Am. That car got me through a bit of high school, 5 years of college, 4 of med school, and part of residency. I think it had about 165K miles on it when the clutch finally gave out. Had also sprung a rear main seal leak (among others) by that time, so I decomissioned it and have it awaiting restoration after I finish the Midget. I hope one of my sons likes it, because I'll never sell it!

Y'all are right, these cars really are deceptively good driver's cars, especially considering the competition at the time. Gobs of torque, great sound, decent brakes and pretty dang good steering. I used to do rather well autocrossing it, you could throw it around pretty good for a big car.

Great post! Good to know they last when taken care of. I know the car would be quicker with mods, but there are so few clean unmodded cars out there now. It really drives great. the stock exhaust sound good too.

Man, BOTH of our cars ran to high mileage!

I have had some mechanical quibbles, but no major drivetrain issues.

Next big expense will be the ^&*% white leather, logo embroidered interior.
That won't be small. I see kits, on eBay....but my Trim Shop assured me that "cut from existing templates" was the way to go.

It goes 154MPH, in fifth, now.

    That, is fast enough!

You may have noticed, fifth gear is overdirve, and sixth is a higher ratio, still yet!

I was crossing Montana in my modified 996 Turbo and came upon one of these. He was behind me for a bit and when we got into a small town he disappeared. Down the road I got caught in traffic with two semi trucks followed by a rancher in an old pick up. I was waiting for the rancher to pick his spot to pass the semi's - which seemed like forever as I think he needed a clear horizon before even attempting a pass. Suddenly we both were passed by the Trans Am with the Ram Air. He tucked himself in between the two semi's to wait for traffic to clear. I watched and when he pulled out to pass the front semi I pulled out with the 996TT. By the time he got past the front semi and pulled into the right lane again I was almost beside him. I remember looking over and he was rocking back and forth, as if to encourage his car to go faster, and laughing. We blew by him and pulled into the right lane. My girlfriend, now wife, said she saw 307 km/h on the speedo as we went by. Do the ram air cars have a governor? I seem to recall a 155 mph speed limit which explains why he hit a wall when we went by.

154MPH is it, man...with the stock ECU, and engine

I don't think it's in the software, that is all my 1994 LT1 will do.
I was zooming thru the night, and started worrying about loose cattle and road debris!!
The 1994 was before the Ram Air returned.

Maybe a Firehawk, could do a little more.
They ran the Ram Air as well as the GM mods, cat back exhaust, I recall.

Note carreapers is a later year, they got the all aluminum LS motors, before they were done....

Very nice. Keep me updated on how that goes. I will need some interior work done when I get around to fixing mine up, but haven't looked too much at the options.

My '99 Z28 M6 is sitting at 309K miles and I'm averaging 26 mpg with it. It's worn - the drivers seat is shredded - but it keeps on starting every day. No complaints from me on GM on F-body's of that vintage.

I think GM got the bad reputation when it switched over to FWD. The F B and D bodies were all pretty decent cars.
