I am not sure concerning both. As soon as I get in front of the car again, I will report back.
Thank you 4right! I agree, 52 it is. By the way, sorry for the poor quality (iPhone6), but here is a picture featuring 3 rarities: 2 vetro and 1 GTB Turbo. This vetro was discussed on this very forum in 2012 when one of our fellow members was hesitating to go to Italy to see it, finally did and decided not to buy it. The car's engine has since then been restored, and this wonderful vetro is now a great little car making her new Japanese owner very happy! Image Unavailable, Please Login
not many people see two together. Good for you. Nice looking cars. What is the story on the one's engine?
Nothing really interesting about that engine, "restored" may have been wrongly used here. It was just an old engine that needed some attention to deliver what it's supposed to. By the way, I think the engine size has been slightly increased in the process. From the outside, it looks brand new. I have to say that driving a Vetroresina while following another one is very cool, you get to enjoy not only the driving feeling, but also the beautiful shape of the car!
Okay, as promised attached are the pics of the headliner, sun visor and back of the seats. The headliner is the same as shown in the picture that you had provided indicating a contoured section between the two visors. The visors on my 308 do not have snaps that allow you to secure the visor to the headliner. And lastly, yes both seats have the pockets as pictured. I hope that this helps! Very nice! I have only seen one other Vetroresina let along two at the same time. And then to throw in a 208 turbo, very special!
Another one of my Japanese friends has a blue Vetro, that I have yet to see in the flesh (well, in the plastic is probably more appropriate). I hope we get to have our 3 Vetro together one day, that would be quite a view!
Thanks a lot 4right, you are the last car in my list having that headliner but according to Sebino81 informations, they changed it from assy60. I just have to find those 7 or 8 cars in between... You have definitely a very rare car even in fiberglass production with that headliner and the antenna in the windshield...
Hey thanks, that's good to know. I am really enjoying gaining an understanding around all of the subtle nuances of these cars. Makes you really wonder what was going through the minds of the planners at the time and why those changes were made mid stream production.
For those whose Italian is rusty this says "a rare example of a 1976 Ferrari 308 GTB with fiberglass bodywork (of which 712 were made), with a dry sump and left hand drive (of which only 150 were made)" Only 150 dry sump left hand drive? I thought it was more like 350 no?
Wow, except for the plate, this could be my car on the cover of this magazine. I'd love to have a copy!
Interesting, what is your Assembly Number? If it is the same 76AU, then I have seen the same type of marking, probably around the same place, on another vetroresina recently.
Looks like 52. As a matter of interest, I have 19631 in front of me at the moment, its RHD build number is 52, engine number 300. Some images... Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
Can't believe this rubbish is still doing the rounds! The factory quote 808 vetroresinas in total. Of that figure, I am up just over 200 in RHD build numbers, so that would make approximately 600 in LHD of which only the USA (101) and Japan (20-30??) would be wet sump. So approximately 460-470 dry sump LHD so far.
Please read the thread: http://www.ferrarichat.com/forum/143180405-post603.html Note the build numbers refer to RHD production. You can use Robert's website to see where these numbers fit in relation to LHD cars.
That is Peter's build number. It's usually engraved on the inside of the rear guards. Here is 20077, a RHD Australian car. Image Unavailable, Please Login
