Hamilton: We shouldn't supply engines to Red Bull

Sounds like he's afraid of a challenge.

Not to sound idealistic, but if you want to know how good you really are, shouldn't you be welcoming competition rather than shying away from it?

They know how good they are: they are winning !!! What more proof you want?

Giving your engine to a rival team is a bit like giving ammunition to the enemy, no?

I gather Mercedes wouldn't like to loose a championship in future to one of its customers, after all they have invested in the sport.

 

I get it from the manufacturer's point of view, just rather disappointed that a "champion" would shun away from the promise of a challenge / rivalry.

 

He's also speaking as a company man.

This thread is nothing more than another way to take aim at Hamilton.

 

Ridiculous he opened up to this himself by speaking. I fully agree with Fresh. I would say the same if it was FA.

If Mercedes give them their engines, Red Bull will show it to Illien who's already worked and had a good look on Renault's and Ferrari's, and finally produce his own for Red Bull or for VW IMO

 

Hammy wins because he's in the best car-nothing more, nothing less. No different than Seb or Schumey back in their day. No reason to give the competition a helping hand.

 

All the drivers would think the same way. He's a racing jock. He wants all the advantage he can get... Doesn't imply anything about him other than his singular focus on winning.

Of course he doesn't wan't to give them engines, he knows from last year that even in an inferior car Ricci is faster than him!!!

I don't think many have an ego as large as Hamilton, and frankly if he wants to become the new goat, why ask for competition? History books will count victories more than having to work for them.
RR has shown (in cooperation with Renault) that creativity and dedication can make a winner out of a team with a second best motor. They would be a serious risk factor with the same motor.
I'd love to see them being up there again, whatever motor they have

 

The real headline is that Ferrari Fans are calling him to come to Ferrari... Everyone knows this the only way for Ferrari to win the WDC/WCC again. I see him moving to Red in the next two years.

 

No chance, why would Ferrari want him when they have Vettel now, and any driver they want, whenever they go a knocking? He dreams of Ferrari, but they don't want nor need Mr drama

Vettel has been exposed when DR beat him. He showed his true colors by throwing all his toys out of the pram by tucking his tail and running to Ferrari rather than facing his foe again and beating him the next year.

I am not specially pro-Vettel, but I think you got it all wrong.

Vettel left a team after a season where he didn't win anything to join Ferrari where he already had 2 victories this far.

Red Bull hasn't won anything this year, so far. They don't even know yet what engine they will have next year, and Mateschitz is talking about throwing the towel.

Now, tell me why Vettel's switch to the Prancing Horse doesn't look like a smart move so far?

 

Personally I would prefer it if Lewis welcomed the challenge.

 

There was no way to predict Ferrari's success this year. At the end of 2014 season Ferrari had not won a race and was in complete disarray. Vettel saw DR as a threat to close and took Ferrari as a good exit. When Hamilton was beaten by Button he could have left the following season but he took the challenge looked Button in the eye and beat him the following year. That's how a true Champion deals with adversity head on.

Ferrari would drop Kimi in a heartbeat if they could get Hamilton, probably Vettel too.

 

As well you should-you have confidence in him.

That said, MB would have won the Wdc and wcc with or without hammy.

 

I wonder how he (or Mercedes, for that matter) will react if Williams start to take victories?

 

I can see yet another angle in this debate. We all know the old quote "Aerodynamics are for people who can't build engines."

Imagine Hammy taking that quote to heart and saying "Yeah, Red Bull have a great bunch of guys that know how to make a really great aero package. But we all know winning is about the whole package. So let's see if they can go to the next step and make a great car. Come on, Christian. Go build an engine and bring it. We're waiting."

Never going to happen, but a nice thought...
