1978 308 Gt4 being done up :)

My car went off quite a while ago to be rid of its rust, today I got the call to say work had started in earnest. I was quite shocked when I turned up to see it all broken..

But apparently in 2 weeks it will all be better and back home.

It looks to be originally Azzuro Metallica?

That's a wonderful blue, several resto threads in 308 Section show it.
I had it, on my #22641

 

Be good to see pics of the work as it progresses.

 

Back in the day it was Azzuro Metallica. It was resprayed in the mid 80s to Rosso Corsa. I don't think I would have bought it if it had still been blue.
Having said that I did consider going back to blue, but to be honest, the cost outweighed the benefits.

With apologies for the thread hijack, but I have an Azzuro Metallico 308 GT4. After 10 months in the bodyshop having the rusty bits replaced, I made this video.

The bodyshop presented me with a bucket full of rust & filler that had come off the car! Wheel arches, sills, front wing bottoms, door bottoms all cut out and replaced with new metal.

 

Hi Dan, looks nice. I did think about taking mine back to Azuro, but I love it in red.

My car is now in primer, the arches, rear valance and sills have all been replaced. Its been an epic amount of work, and will probably cost an epic amount of money

I really cant wait to get it back, apparently mid September..

I went to see my car today and its looking so much better. All the metal work is finished, new rear, arches and sills. The factory fitted sunroof had gone through in one place and that too has been repaired. They have also fitted a new passenger side from chassis section, this is the bit that takes a pounding every time you hit a speed bump too hard.

The repaired sections are all in primer and he was sanding that down when I went to see the car. By the end of next week it should be red again, and back home the week after.

The car is nearly there, its so straight! Not a wobbly bit in sight Hopefully in red paint later this week.
