    Great experience at the Atelier in Maranello this week. It was my second time to visit the factory, and the first time to configure a car at the Atelier. Yes, almost all dealers have the same tools to help you build a personalized car, but the best part about the factory is walking the assembly line and seeing cars in production. I've only seen the new Rosso Corsa Metallic on a demo car, so the opportunity to see black, yellow, white, silverstone and various shades of red was great. Also, seeing the details, such as interior leathers, contrast stitching, rims and caliper choices helps to finalize selections.

    The icing on the cake was seeing the 488 Spider launch car!

    I kept my 488 config pretty classic:

    Rosso Corsa Metallic
    Black Leather w/ red contrast stitching
    Red leather accents in door, cavellino and knee pad (side of the lower tunnel)
    Carbon Fiber Drive Zone
    Yellow calipers
    Grigio Opaque 5 spoke wheel

    Also, can you ask if they are offering glass cover for the spiders engine or not?

    Getting back to some questions:

    - I didn't get any other good pics of the spider. Honestly, I was completely shocked to see the car there when we walked into that room, so I just soaked it in!

    - Didn't ask about the glass cover. I just assumed it wouldn't be an option.

    - I didn't opt for the leather headliner. it actually looks great, but i decided not to to over-indulge in options as this one isn't likely to be a keeper for me

    - Blu Corsa looks fantastic. Shows the lines, and ensures the car is noticeable but in refined way vs red/yelllow. I would probably build my 488 Spider in this color.

    I ordered my Speciale in Maranello and there is no other way to do it. They put an example in the room with you, you have every seat example in the room as 100s of paint samples. you get to tour the factory, look at real examples of choices, see the 100+ cars on the line and in storage, ask tons of questions to people actually building the cars..

    for the cost a a plane ticket.. why wouldn't you do this?

    I suppose you have to earn your Ferrari chops and have bought at least a couple cars new from a Ferrari dealer ?

    Anyone can do it as long long as you have an allocation for a new car. Just ask your dealer to schedule it for you.
