    I need a little help from the experts around here! I am trying to figure out exactly what I just bought.

    The valve covers both appear to be for the same side of the engine.

    One has been machined a bit and the fins on top as well as the 'Ferrari' insignia has been polished. Also the bolt holes have been drilled through. The other seems to be a bit more raw.

    No numbers, markings or stamps on them.....

    What are they???

    They look like remanufactured blanks. After being machined these may be usable only as a right side to some Tipo 168 motors, since they are void of stands for throttle linkage, etc. I wonder if anyone has actually utilized one of these.

    Six studs on the side, they are for an early 250 motor.

    The "Ferrari" script and the end cutouts tell us it's a right side cover. Since there are no stand provisions, this would be suited only to cars who have no attachments to the right side cover; Lusso, GTE, etc.

    You're PF has 6 holes- as Dyke says- you're Lusso only 5 .

    6 holes only till end of 1960.

    Yes John ,

    For the right side of a LHD cars before 1960 128 type

    and for a RHD cars on the left side also 128 A-D/DF.

    Most GTE has also 5 studs and inside the 128E inscription.

    These are for sale on Ebay for around 700 usd by a US part seller

    They would make cool garage art.

    I'd paint 'em crackle black and grind the Ferrari logo back to aluminum, but I'm no purist.

    Bill, your cam covers are not entirely useless, but unless modified, they are not entirely usable either. The 16-hole cam covers that go on the right bank have stands for the carburetor push rods. You can see that yours do not have these stands.

    The covers pictured may be from a series of repros produced in California to be used for wall hangings and memorabilia.
