2001 550Maranello

About 375 Maranello 5,5 liter have been manufactured in 2001.
Modular wheel was an option.
Mine (124995, certainly June 2001) features the standard 5 spokes wheel.

Mark, as Fred said, standard were the BBS five spoke wheels (not the problematic magnesium wheels any more). Modular wheels were an option and seldomly ordered with a new car...

You're right, 2001 models are very rarely offered, most probably because of the very limited production during the final year of the 550.

Mine is 124558, built/registered to it's first and only pre-owner in may 2001.

I have a 2001 # 123289. Yellow, shields, CF, daytona seats, quilted headliner and rear shelf, yellow stitching, red calipers and modular wheels.

 

How you determine the model year differs between Euro and U.S. cars.

 

First of all, yes, Mark, these are the last six digits of the VIN number. Additionally, there is a production number as well.

Some european (maybe also in other parts of the world) car manufacturers are starting after the summer holidays with the production of the models for the forthcoming year. Sometimes it is clearly visible for which model year they are produced (I owe one of the first 1000 produced Sting Ray's, manufactured at october 1962, but defenitly are 63 model). One other car of mine, a Mercedes 500 SE, model 126 was first registered 9th september 1987, in this case, it's an (somehow strange) interims model, equipped as a 1987th model but with a 1988th colour combination only available for the next year...

Mine is 125727 and it's an August 2001 build and it has modular wheels, painted calipers, quilted shelf, power Daytona seats, custom ordered interior color (no black, even on the dash and steering wheel) and some other options.

I have counted and it is the 60th from the end of world production.

DO you have production info as I own 126043 and I know it is a very late production ...october I believe..
mine has modular wheels , red / red calipers, quilted shelf , quilt headliner, power daytonas , carbon fiber, full luggage and a couple of other things..
curious if you know how close to the end this car was?

I do. I have to count manually but I can do that. Mine had full luggage too but it's no longer with the car, unfortunately.

 

Larry, 126043 is 32 before the end of world production and the fourth car before the 575M Geneva show car.

Mark, yours is 33 before the end and 5 cars before the 575M Geneva show car.

Convenient for me that your cars are next to each other.

Something else of note: you guys seem to have October production cars that are clearly 2001 Maranellos because there are no 2002 550s. My manual transmission 2002 360 Coupe is a September build and is the last 2002 car (the next car on the production line is noted 2003). So they obviously dragged on the 550 production extra long.

By the way, even though these 2001s (mine, Larry's, Mark's) were made just before the Geneva show car 575M, they were made AFTER the first 575Ms. I don't know if those others are classified as pre-production or not but they're real cars with valid s/n's.

 

This a beautiful car very very nice. it is looking like the last few cars were fully loaded cars. I noticed on the last 2014 califnias there were some that had options that were included but not charged just to use up some parts I guess.
