Cant find this anywhere in my manual but my 1996 355 is making a very strange "warning" sound. A very metallic double chime followed by a 5 second silence and then the double chime again. There is also a small light that blinks red (in no specific order), the light is above the speedo and is very small. It is not even shown on my manual. Oil pressure is from 70 to 120, water temp normal, running fine. Please help with any advice. Thanks, Robb in Atlanta

If you're handy with tools at all, it's a breeze to pull the 2 philips screws that hold the instrument pod in place. You could quickly follow the light/wire to see where it leads. I've had my pod off many times and can confirm what others here have said. There's no stock light in that location. +1 on the aftermarket alarm.

DO NOT remove cluster and gauges and the turn power on you will cause the airbag light to stay on. If you are going to turn power on make sure all gauges are still wired in.

If you've done this, how do you get it to go out? Any other consequences?

It can be cleared with an SD computer. Any dealer or reputable shop will have one. I lit mine once and my shop cleared it gratis. Takes them 2 minutes.

I did have my instrument pod out a while ago and needed to turn on the key so I could move the seats. I was surprised to find the windshield wipers came on in the intermittent mode and the HVAC blower came on full. Nothing I did would stop them until I turned the key back off. Now that the pod is back in, everything seems to be back to normal. I also had my passenger air bag out to replace the "F355" badge under it but was careful not to unplug its connector. I have since checked my airbag light and it is not on.

Its my understanding that if the air bag connector is not unplugged, it will not turn on the light or throw a code regardless of whether the key is on or off. My experience seems to support this so I thought I would share this with everyone.

I have done this twice at two different dealers. They were both kind enough to do it an no charge.

Probably a k40 remote radar detector. Usually a knob that turns it on by the ash tray. Look up k40 on line and you will see different installation s.
