Lets all be honest with ourselves and leave the ego at the door. Only Ferrari guys (m e included) would think that 799 isn't a limited production run. In this day and age 799 cars produced is unequivocally a limited production run. Yes more quantity means potentially less increase in value but thats not always the case. Porsche made 918 of their most recent hypercar (to wit the 918) and the run sold out and the 918 values have increased since its introduction. We all know that whether the run is 599 (like the 599GTO) or in excess of 1300 (like the F40) that Ferrari will have at least 2 legitimate buyers lined up for each allocation. Thats the bottom line. I own a 599GTO and am man enough to say that I could not get an allocation for an F12VS. I'd like an F12VS allocation whether they make 799 or 999. Its just not in the cards. So if Ferrari makes 999 F12VS units (or whatever) and you don't want your allocation kindly PM me and I'll be glad to take it off of your hands.

I hope you get an allocation because as the 599 GTO ambassador, you have proven your credentials to become the vs ambassador:). I wonder if we signed a petition as an fchat forum if something like that would have any bearing on the decision makers at the dealer. Maybe in the future social media may have an impact.

I was and it seems I have passed 'selection' again and get to view the car and have an Atelier session on the 25th. Relieved and excited.

Well said. Another good point is with a higher production run the odds of the cars actually being used let alone tracked are higher. 1300+ examples made F40 the legend it is today because they were used and seen around the world for its performance on track and videos everywhere. In comparison how many F50, enzo videos are out there beside them driving around MC at 10mph then back into the garage?????? How many F1's no longer get driven and are now garage ornaments (Leno's included admittedly) because the price is stratispheric.

The car will still gain in value just like all other limited cars. IMO even more so because it is the last of the NA only line. A few more cars on the street is a good thing to any true car guy/girl who want to see this beast in action and not just parked on the grass or locked away. Increased value financially has a direct corrilation to decreased value in usability. At the end of the day Ferrari is amazing for DRIVING above all benefits. The limited cars should go to those who embrace that mantra.

Congrats Traveller! I've been following your posts for a while and believe you would be a great owner. You share your car experience with the community and it is appreciated more than you think. Give some of us a glance into a world not yet available. Looking forward to your final spec!

Congrats; the real question then becomes 'is a dark blue' still in the running or?

    Thanks everyone-your 'selection' is appreciated.

Being RHD, I am hoping I don't have to go definitive on a scheme Friday week. My natural tendency has always been to go for what I would call quieter colours, such as Grigio Silverstone, Grigio Titanio, Nero etc as, aside from limited edition cars, I always preferred the subtler look.

What I am struggling with here is that whilst I am currently considering Grigio Ferro and a very unusual Blue, they are both quieter colours in my tradition and something is telling me the car deserves more than that. But then having seen both colours on the LF, why should I worry?

So if I go for one of those colours, maybe, just maybe I have to give in and add a stripe or contrasting detailing which would go completely against my nature of keeping my cars low profile, but would give it that something extra.

It will help when I see the car and the configurator may assist, but it is such a rubbish system, I am not expecting much. Consequently, my hope is that I can wait a few months and actually see a few cars, especially Peter's to see how I might spice up these quieter colours.

Have you considered Grigio Alloy or Argento Nurburgring ?
Still on the quieter side of the palette, but light enough to show the strong lines of the car.
I love how those colors go from a silver to almost blue or white when the sun directly hit the paint.

Anyway, congrats on the allocation. Well deserved after what you did with the F40.

Unless I'm missing something in the posts but wasn't the F12 (GTO) supposed to be unveiled at the Frankford auto show and its on going as we write. I guess it wasn't unveiled. What is being talked about regarding the new release date for the car??

No, some thought it was, but they were misinformed. Indeed, I always understood there was no plan for an official launch as such, but then I think Peter M knows more and that something less obvious may be planned......

Argento I really thought about, but I would like a more unique and individual colour and Grigio A doesn't appeal to me that much. Yes, thank you, a perfect stablemate for the LM.

Ah, but this is not a quiet or subtle car.

Can you imagine an F40 in "grigio"?

    A 288GTO?

I'm thinking -- yellow, one of the oranger reds, or how about that blue they just launched the 488 Spider in?

    I mean, come on! :)

Many, many congratulations! Grigio Ferro is still awesome but I fully understand your concerns. What about a twist to Grigio Medio, light enough for CF parts contrast? On a more classic note, give a second thought to ever beautiful Grigio Alloy, please, please do :)

For what is worth, I stopped liking classic Rosso Corsa many years ago, I would definitely not spec RC now for any model... but the F40. I guess it's an icon altogether, car&colour.
