Did the VR tune on my scud and tried it out these couple of weeks… I was impressed! Improved low to top end power now. I had a Zeus flash tune before, didn't notice that much of a difference from stock. Now with the VR tune, the car is more responsive and the rpm goes faster all the way up! And the best part is, no CEL! I had more than 5x of CEL warning lights before because of my 200cell cats. Bench flash tune is totally better, it was worth it sending my ECU to them. Thanks James of Vivid Racing!!! :)

I'm curious , there's another companies(reputable) offering tune/flash for less and for more what's the difference ? Hp and torque increases is the same . Isn't the proper way to tune a car especially with exhaust and or cat mod is by Dyno?

Don, I agree with you. There isn't a one size fits all, often there needs to be some tweaks based on any mods or even how that particular car is running. For example one car may be running more rich than another or timing maybe off. I think the tunes out of the box will definitely change some things but no guarantee you are getting full benefit.

For the most part, the various tunes on the market will be similar, especially on a naturally aspirated vehicle. Things like fueling and timing are adjusted to take full advantage of any modifications that have been done, and additional power can be extracted from even a 100% stock 360, 430, etc.

I wouldn't use "proper" in this scenario as this type of tuning is used throughout the industry on every Italian, German, Japanese, and Domestic brand.

Typically, it's not worth the cost associated with dyno tuning a vehicle unless it is heavily, heavily modified and a standard flash tune will not suffice.

The tunes provided by us and potentially by other vendors will work well for Ferrari's with various intake and exhaust upgrades as well as stock.

This is partially true. We have no control over how the vehicle we are tuning has been maintained. If the O2 sensors are not functioning properly, or perhaps the spark plugs and other parts of the ignition system are in need of maintenance, this will limit what we are able to do.

However, we do tune specifically based on the modifications on the car and the fuel octane being used. The tunes provided are safe for various weather conditions and altitudes.

We provide files that are safe. Yes, a dyno tune can potentially extra more power, but this is simply due to it being more aggressive. This can be done as air/fuel and knock can be measured during the tuning process. But again, the cost associated with this, and the likelihood that you have a shop in your area that is capable of doing this on a Ferrari make it not worthwhile.

The Ferrari ECU's require bench flashing. Thus, to dyno tune one, you would need to load your base MAP, make dyno pulls, review AFR, remove the ECU's again, make adjustments, reflash them, reinstall them, make dyno pulls, review the AFR again, etc.

So if I have a Capristo exhaust, run 93 Octane you can custom tune for this? How do I know I got any benefits? Is it enough power that one can feel it?

If the exhaust is simply the muffler section, there are no changes made to the tune for that, however if you do headers, and/or sport cats, and/or test pipes, then changes would be made to the tune to reflect that. As you reduce the back pressure by upgraded exhaust components you adjust the powerband of the car. This can lead to the torque portion of your powerband shifting further up in the RPM's and making the car feel somewhat sluggish at low RPM's. A tune will dial back in the power down low while still taking the peak power higher as well.

Gains can be confirmed via dyno before and after, or potentially via before and after 60-130 measurements, or similar. The gains are enough that you should be able to feel them, but there isn't really a way for anyone to quantify that.
