Eddie Jordan on the BBC yesterday had one of his 'uncle Eddie' spots where he lays out what's going on in F1. I didn't record it, but the gist of it was:

'I can confirm that red bull will be racing with Ferrari engines next year and the one after (CONFIRM is the key word there) and VW, in the guise of Audi, have signed with red bull to buy the team for the next, coming in with their engines for a title tilt.'

He says that VW have agreed this and it's a done deal.

Discuss, is this just Eddie stirring things up, making some statements that he's hoping will turn out to be correct or forgotten quickly if it doesn't, or is it genuine? Have I missed some announcements somewhere (not unheard of!)

That's the thing, is it true? It was done in a really funny way, like he is some super spy back from the other side with his report..... Very interesting, but is it just spiel to help the BBC justify their program?

I don't know. He's claimed several things over the last few years WELL ahead of time and all turned out to be true. Hamilton to Mercedes, I think the Vettel Ferrari deal and other things I've since forgotten.

But I will say this... Red Bulls performance yesterday was highly impressive. Arrivabene has said he wants competition but damn, with a Ferrari engine I think Red Bull would have snatched pole away! They have a pretty good car...

Well... I think Eddie Jordan hears most of the current rumor in the paddock, which he then passes off as fact. Half the time he's right and taps the side of his nose, while the times he was wrong don't really get revisited.

When he reports something as a new confirmed scoop, I like to view it as a 50:50 chance that it'll happen. He even if they're only rumors at this stage, they're interesting things to consider.

    All the best,
    Andrew.

With Audi quietly hiring F-1 personnel (namely Domenciali), it's as good an indication as any
that they're making moves towards eventual entry in the category.

This would be more than just a branding exercise for Audi, they come loaded for bear with
no stone unturned. Audi partnering with Red Bull (especially if Newey is still present) would
    be a monumental team.

Say what you will about Jordan, he still seems to be a popular character in the F-1 paddock.

Eddie Jordan is a fine entertainer, first of all.

Gossips and rumours are just one of the things that keep me interested in F1.

    Keep on Eddie !!!

Yep, Ferrari may regret its generosity before long!

Red Bull makes good chassis, and with Ricciardo and Kvyat they also have 2 good drivers.

Ferrari may have to pull all the stops to stay in front of Red Bull next year, unless they don't supply them with the latest engines.

I can't imagine that Ferrari would supply the same spec engine, no matter what they say they are going to do.

Maybe. Adrian Newey gets and deserves much credit. But, RB blames Renault when RB loses and touts RB aero when RB wins.

I can't see Ferrari giving RB an engine with some "consulting" agreement with Newey.

My understanding is that RBs current aero package wouldn't be possible with the F engine package.
