Currently I'm on the list for a 488 GTB which is atleast a couple of years from now before I get an allocation instead I'm getting a December build for an early March F12 delivery - Should I take the jump? What do you guys think? I currently drive a 2010 458 that I just purchased. Do you think it would be wise to wait for the F12M?

I am really confused now. Please pour in your thoughts!!

Do you have the inside track on a f12m? If so, congratulations! If not, you likely won't need to add that into the equation - they are totally different experiences so if you've driven the f12, you know if it's your next car or not - totally different than a 458- both great but different- IMO I'd take a f12 over a 488 every single day of the week - but do what makes your gears turn-not anyone else's!!!

F12m? So I should hold off then right as I did see in another post the model coming up soon in the next yr or so - correct me if I'm wrong. The allocation that I'm getting is the current version I guess. Never drove an f12 before and have no idea what it feels like.

Please fill me in with anything that I maybe missing! Thanks

Hmm. That sounds confusing. You need to drive the cars. If you are buying them to drive. If you are buying one to sit in the garage for 20 years lol ... get a 458 Speciale or a F12M. Something more rare.

You need to drive the F12. It's a totally different machine from the 458, you barely know, and you need to also drive that one more !

You might like to keep the 458. It's fun and great and tight and track sporty. 8 cyl sound and timeless good looks.

The F12 is a beast ... slightly more of a grand touring car with more size, weight, top speed, and the V12 top end power for days ... serious HP and takes a little tending to.
    Watch this: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=U_ed8pBMel4

I would prefer the 458 as it's fun, yet the V12 is soon to be extinct I fear/hope. What you prefer, is of course up to you.

Thanks Brian! So far from what I understand is f12m is to f12 as how the speciale is to 458? Is that correct? It's not like f12m is a replacement for f12 right? Sorry just a bit confused. If it's a replacement then I rather wait but if the m is a special edition then I may take the jump for the regular f12. Thanks.

Some people say the upgrade is like the 550 to 575 which wasn't as significant as something like the 488 to the 458. It's not just a Speciale version as from what I understand from the threads is the f12 production will stop and the f12m production will be go for a couple of years. I would be interested to know exactly what the difference between the f12m and f12 such as engines etc?

The F12M is not to the F12 what the Speciale is to the Italia. The F12M is to the F12 what the 355 was to the 348, the 430 was to the 360 and the 488 is to the 458. The F12VS is to the F12 what the 599GTO was to the 599GTB. The Speciale is to the Italia what the 599GTB HTGE was to the 599GTB. The F12M is a new car built on the same basic platform, just like the 575 was to the 550.

If you can't get your hands on a 488 until 2017, I don't think you'll see a new V12 F12M until 2020. It will most likely launch at Geneva in 2017, not earlier, and then you will have to wait seeing that you are in the US with all the "lists" and "relationships". Buying an F12 will put you closer to an F12M, but how close depends on your dealer. Getting on the list to a newly launched V12 is much harder apparently than getting on the list for a new V8. From what I understand, some US dealers won't even sell you a new V12 car, unless you have purchased a used one. It's ridiculous.

It's difficult to say what will be the exact specs and changes. But looking at Ferrari evolution, it will most likely get a facelift with more creases, wings and lines. A new suspension, next gen brakes, possibly the RWS from the VS, a re-designed interior, and power will be bumped up.

Ohhh ok. That clarifies the confusion - Big Thanks. So it means that 2016 would not be F12s last production year as some have forecasted on this forum? And if I'm getting an allocation for one I should take it right?

CORRECT ..2016 is not F12s last model year and you should definitely get one if you can.. I absolutely love mine...blindingly fast and still comfortable around town...

    Oh, the F12 is fun!

I don't see how you can go wrong either way, in my case I just prefer to drama of the NA V12 and the slightly more traditional, less radical looks of the Ferrari 12's.

I would suggest test driving the F12 and 488 GTB. From what I heard is that 488 GTB has more torque than the 458 but the engine and exhaust noise is very weak. The F12 on the other hand is a totally different animal. The amount of speed and constant power is overwhelming. Personally I would get a used F12 since prices are a bit lower now. Looking at Ferrari it might be the last N/A V12 non-hybrid assisted car. The FF is going into ditch its V12 for a V8 twin turbo. Some people will change the mufflers on the cars to give it more noise but the turbo will always muffle the pure sound of any engine.

So what is this "new F12" coming out with the three air slits in the rear quarter. I heard it'll debut at geneva and only be for the guys that were 458 Speciale Aperta/LaFerrari eligible. I haven't seen any talk of a new updated F12 yet.

FWIW, the supply of F12's appears on the increase. I saw 3 very low miles, great spec cars for sale at my dealer yesterday. Prices should soon reflect this.

So there may be some better deals to be had if you are patient. I'm 1500 miles into my '16 F12. I agree with the other posters--it is a fantastic machine.

Guys thanks - took the jump and switched from waiting for the 488gtb to an actual build of an f12 as I could not resist the temptation of getting it next spring. Still have not driven it yet.

Build starts around first week of December. It looks really bad ass in real!

I heard the same from one of the dealers but not sure if a V12 will be an option.

I would not count on an early December production as f12 production will not restart until November, and there is a backlog of orders.

Not sure why my dealer would tell me that then. I'm new to all this - he mentioned that the car was already in line for the dealer who had a build scheduled months ago and his system was locked and then it was unlocked so I could make the actual changes to the build that was already allotted to him but warned me that sometime after next week till the first week of October I will not be able to make anymore changes.

Since you guys have done this before does it sound right?

The reason it was unlocked is because production had been backed up by the F12 line shutting down mid July. I was also told that I can still make changes to my order

FWIW, My Car was supposed to be a March build and is now a November, as is Pesto and mark moon. I don't know how many more F12s were also in the queue, but based on experience, I Would not be too sure that the line, will in fact, reopen in November.
