A friend of mine in Japan needed a windscreen frame for his 3200GT, and this is the reply he received from his local official Maserati dealer:

"Sorry, I can’t help you, Maserati have stopped making them, and there is no stock left at the factory or at any dealer in the world."

He will now have to search the world for a used one !!!!

Well it is a Biturbo and it's also pretty damn old now ...

We all become worldwide dumpster divers out of sheer necessity.

eBay or Eurospares would be my first port of call for a windscreen frame. So many of these lovely beasts have been crashed or scrapped over the years that one should be relatively easy to find.
The really fatal flaw apparently is the suspect crank thrust washers. They can wear prematurely and allow excessive end float which then wrecks the crank journals - and guess what...no new crankshafts available anymore. OUCH.

    Would still like one though!

They use the same thrust washer as the old 4.9L V8 and all of the other Biturbo engines.

I had one fail due to a catastrophic oiling system failure but that's hardly the bearings fault.

Won't a 4200 GT windscreen also fit? There are a lot more of them being parted out around the world.

    It happens all the time.
Call some local fabrication shops, especially aircraft machine and fab shops. They make replacement parts for antique aircraft from scratch, and they can make car parts too.
I just had a set of custom pistons made, and also some titanium shifter linkages which will never rust.

I'm afraid it wouldn’t fit as the 4200 screen has humps in the bottom of it to clear the wiper mechanism, the 3200 has a straight lower edge.

Try Candini in Modena. They have NOS parts for the 3200 GT series.
    Regards,
    Colin
