Sunday, September 20th in Raleigh: Silver Aston Martin V8 Vantage Roadster and black Maserati GranTurismo S in a driveway on St Mary's St. White Lamborhgini Gallardo Final Edition Spyder just down the street from the Mellow Mushroom near downtown. I believe it's new to the area, as I had never seen it before and the renewal date on the icense plate was September 2016.
Yes I've seen that one listed. Need to get over there and check out the new crop. Any more progress on a new ride for yourself?
Wow! I'm very curious about those. I'm pretty sure I'd still lean towards a Ferrari/Maser/Aston but those i8's definitely have my interest.
Car and Driver had a pretty detailed review of it if you're interested: 2014 BMW i8 Test | Review | Car and Driver It's a drama bomb for sure. I remember the first one I saw...pulled into Whole Foods on Fairview as I was leaving after having a bit to eat. Everyone was taking pictures of that thing. As I was taking some pics of it, a couple of employees saw it from inside and walked out to look at it up close, then an older couple who had parked next to it snapped several pics then asked me what it was. To put it in perspective how popular it was, a Rolls-Royce Ghost happened to pull into the lot right after the i8 had parked and nobody even seemed to notice it. I guess if you like attention, it's pretty hard to top short of buying something like an Aventador.
Nice article. Thanks for the link! I'm a bit surprised by the observed mileage. I'm sure C&D was ragging it out, still a bit surprising nonetheless. Maybe not in perspective of its performance abilities. Definitely an interesting rolling technological marvel. So is there a waiting list for this car long enough that FCI thinks they'll get $199k for the one that they have?
Holy moly. I would definitely look elsewhere before dropping $200k on an i8. According to BMW's site they start at about $130k. But I guess there could be a waiting list driving the prices up.
Cary, NC, this evening leaving work, red Mondial spider (80-81?) on Kitt Creek Road, NC55 South, and hopped on 540S. Anyone here? If so, I was in the black M3 sedan.
Wow, this thread really died from all that rain. Hopefully some cars will start poking their noses out of their garages now that the weather's cleared up. Today, Oct 9th, in Cary: Grey Porsche 911 997 GT3 leaving a neighborhood in Lochmere at about noon. Saw it as I was leaving the Rec Club...same one I've seen several times around the general area. Good to see it being driven so much considering how desirable 997s have become.
A red 355 coupe getting the rear bumper reworked or replaced at an independent shop on Chapel Hill Rd in Durham. And a Porsche 918 across from my sons school.
Today, Oct 14th, in Raleigh: Woman-driven SRT Viper GTS in blue with white stripes heading north on Six Forks Rd in front of North Hills at about 3:20.
Friday, October 9th I spotted a red Lamborghini Muricelago on Highway 521 in SC heading towards Ballantyne. Never seen this one before. Anyone else know it?
Some scruffy-looking window-tinting place. Not the obvious choice, but the work looked good from 30 feet at 30 mph. And the 918 does belong to the noted local P-car aficionado. No pics. I saw another one in London in August in front of a hotel, and got a good look.
Today, Oct 16th, in Cary: Red Dodge Viper SRT-10 Convertible with a black roof parked outside of Craft Public House on Tryon Rd at about 12:45 this afternoon. I rarely ever see Vipers around anymore and have been pretty surprised to see two this week.
Not sure if you have all heard about Queen City Dream Cars, a new Exotic and Luxury rental car business located here in Charlotte - they have a brand new BMW i8 you can rent - check them out at qcdc
Today, Oct 17th, in Raleigh: Light blue Rolls-Royce of some sort (older sedan, not good on the names) pulled up a couple lanes over from me at around 5:00 on eastbound Wade Ave as I was about to turn into Ridgewood Shopping Center.
A few in Cornelius today... I also saw a Ford GT today on Hwy 16 near Denver- couldn't tell if it was dark blue or black, and a Vantage a mile or so behind him, too. Over the past few weeks in Cornelius... White CLK63 BS White Speciale 991TTS Cab Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
^ Great pics! I'm almost positive that grey Bentley might be a very rare GTC V8 LeMans Edition, one of only 48 produced for the US market. Guessing that was at the Peninsula Club? There are lots of Bentleys in that area, plus a couple Aston Martins, Ferraris, Lamborghinis, and McLarens that make their presence known every now and then. Did that GT have white stripes? If so it was probably a dark blue one that a friend of mine saw in that area.
