I love driving in my 328 except for the constant creep of the seatbelt that begins to bite into my shoulder and neck as the strap gets tighter. I must readjust the seatbelt (pulling on the feed/retractor to increase slack) at least half a dozen times while driving. Anyway has anyone tried any of these products? I use the CG lock on my stock Jaguar seat belt when I track it. You can pull the belt tight across your lap so that it locks you into the seat when cornering. You don't have to fight to keep your butt planted in the seat and can concentrate on making it through the corners with the best line and all the G forces you and your car can handle. I don't think it is going to do much about the belt biting into your neck because the upper portion of the belt is still free to retract. I even left the GC lock on the car for a few days after a track event and found it annoying because the belt cannot retract out of the way with the lock attached. Maybe the LooPo (funny name) will do what you want because it takes the tension out of the belt at the shoulder mounting point leaving the belt loose. Might not be great if you don't have belts that automatically tension in an accident though. Alden
May I ask, how tall you are? My wife has the same problem. We never found a solution. So it's just one of those little shortcomings of an old italian sportscar Like Alden said; The CG device won't do anything regarding your problem and the other device makes any belt dangerous. Except if you have emergency tension retractors. What these old Ferraris don't have. Best Regards Martin
I use a clip attached to the lap belt part in which you can guide the shoulder belt. It works like a charm. Shoulder Strap Adjuster | Household - Problem Solvers | HarrietCarter.com
Given the fact, that it seems, that the shoulder belts moves sideways, I wonder, whether this is the best solution for women Best Regards Martin
Thanks Alden after going back over it I think the GC lock wouldn't help. 5'10" so I should be well within the range. Agreed, there is no point in defeating the point of a seat belt. Maybe that's what I need I think I have to go back in and analyze this while driving. Maybe it is just the repositioning of the shoulder strap that's biting in at an awkward angle. I know I don't have this issue with modern harness mechanisms. Driving my body flexes and contracts with turning, accelerating etc with the belt pulling in the slack to the point where it starts biting into the shoulder and I have to pull on the seatbelt retractor to readjust.
In the early 2000's seat belt pads were all the rage. They did ease the digging a bit. They also help Fiero's look more like real 308's! Image Unavailable, Please Login
I just remembered that I had a similar problem when I first got my car. I found that you can adjust the position of the buckle (female part) by loosening the bolt that holds the cable and rotating it. I can't remember if I rotated it forward and down or back and up, but whatever I did, it took care of positioning the strap so it went across my chest instead of across my neck. It's an easy fix and now you don't need a Fiero shoulder pad.
