Tempting to make an offer and do another DIY major. If the seller would take $40....? What happens though if you get into valve guides and those types of issues? It could quickly turn into a $60k car. Also just my opinion but terrible color, could be a tough sell.

If you're gonna do a DIY major, it's not much of a step to do valve guides. But frankly the likelihood of "valve guide problems" is remote. If you're a DIY guy, and a spider guy, and not a concours guy, it's a sure bargain, but that's solely my opinion. You may disagree.

I used the word "selling" on purpose. :)

I try to be precise in my thoughts. I'm aware of three sales lately in 20-30k miles in the range I quoted from new buyers pm'ing me.

That's why I said good to the seller on that (good) higher price. I'm not aware of any spiders above that price that have sold - not talking asking prices...

Did gobble sell his (wife's) red spider? Or a different car? I couldn't tell.

I agree the Market always has exceptions. :)

It's gone. She dragged her feet selling her Boxster and I wasn't going to carry 5 cars into the winter. She didn't want me to sell it but she only drove the thing when we went to car shows together. The concept of having $65k tied up in a car we never use didn't register with her. I've said before I don't like convertibles so rarely drove it myself.

    Someone got a great car.

Met up with a few owners in the northeast last two days.

    Drove a 308 gtb, 328 gts, and F355 gts, TR, 456, 612, F430 and others...

Bottom line - loved the F355. It is an amazing car for the money and an amazing driving experience. Best of the bunch to me. I know I am biased. But it wasn't even my F355...

It was fun to drive the older cars also. 308 was like your favorite pair of old jeans. 328 was beautiful also but felt like I was sitting really high compared to the 308. I loved my silver 328 but could not be happier with the F355. It was like being on Mars to drive a 328 again... :). The F355 is an amazing car in any configuration. TR was beautiful in a different way but heavy everything. I would never replace the F355 with any of the cars there although the 612 (stick) was amazing.

This is why you buy multiple F-cars. For different moods.

F355 remains one of Ferrari's finest. No doubt.

This place has warehouse space in most major cities. I bought mine on impulse, drove the snowmobile trailer to pick it up, and assembled it with a friend. 4 post under $2000.

    $10. You're on.
OOPs spoke too soon. It's been taken down. Who knows why?

    Hi all,

I am looking around for a 355 spider for use in LA. There aren't many around from a quick search but there is a manual 96 spider (red/tan) with 29k on the clock and a Tubi exhaust. Overall good condition apart from the front splitter being cracked underneath and some of the buttons (electric seats position) coming away (but functioning).

I've seen some very hopeful asking prices and some to-good-to-be-true asks. What are these going for at the moment in the U.S?

Thanks in advance. Looking forward to being part of the U.S Ferrari community.

Just imagine how it would feel if you owned one since it was new, like I have. :)

By the way, where were you in the NE? You might have been near me you know.

Steve, that's a good price. I think for the cars that are selling, 105k is top, top end for mileage in teens to twenties. Many others are in the high 80's and into 90's for "great" cars.

There are also some cars going for 70-80 but they are the exception and have had services by individuals and needed a thing or two - some with much higher miles. I think buyers are ok to do some things themselves and save a little.

Two "non-advertised" challenge cars sold behind the scenes last month in the US. One needed quite a bit of cleanup and a new front fender and the other had a very famous livery.

There are still some modern finds in some F355's to stumble on (for reasonable prices) but it is not normal.

I think we are at the end of the primary sales season with many waiting until April 1 at this point. There are more cars available with some owners trying to cash out and take some profits now.

Look at the 550 market. Only a handful of cars available. When one comes up, the ask is higher each month... I think you will see F355's prices continue to escalate but at a more reasonable rate.

So I would agree that the lowest mileage (and nicest condition) F355 are still moving but more normal cars are holding...

Heading home tonight and will have a couple of weeks of downtime. I look forward to driving our F355's a bunch.

    Robb
