switched from Michelin Pilot Super Sports to Michelin CUP2 tires

    They are more of a track oriented tire and I love them so far. It does provide a firmer, rougher, ride so some may not like them, but if you like the more raw, track feel you will love them. I havent tried them on the track yet but they have better cornering than the Super Sports. They have fewer treads and are wider.

    Saw that the Cup 2 is better in the wet and lasts longer on the track too.

    Seems like a better tire than the Super Sports which have been my personal fav.

    I have the forged diamond factory rims, 20 inch. Will the cup 2 fit? If so I will try a set the next time I need to replace.

    The aspect ratio is off. That's why they work for Speciale and not Italia/Spider w/o fooling f1-trac and/or living with an error icon on your lcd.

    The rear is the problem. Needs to be 35, not 30.

    Pilot Sport Cup 2
    Front: 245/35ZR20
    Rear: 295/30ZR20 or 305/30ZR20

    My memory is that when I was looking into these they were heavier and more expensive.

    The 30 aspect ratio means that the side wall is slightly shorter. Along with being a stiffer tire it is definitely better in the corners and will likely be much better for tracking than the supersports. FoTB put them in and made sure the alignment and camber were all set-up and proper for the CUP2 tires.

    I have not had any error icons or issues.

    That's curious....people who are using Speciale wheels on Italia's...wheel essentially 1/2" wider front and back are encouraged to use the stock spec size and supposedly have issues with the error icons for lack of a better expression in some driving modes using Speciale size spec Cup 2 tires. No doubt they are a better tire for track. I would rather be on super sports in the rain.

    Michelin states the Cup 2 are superior to the SS in the wet due to its deeper grooves.

    I hope that Michelin will trickle down these advances to their Super Sports!

    I got around 30,000 miles on my first set. I'm on my second set and have already logged another 10,000 (my car is at 40,000 mi and was told I have
    the record at my dealership)

    What?? That's new as I have always been told that the Super Sports are better in the wet due to having more grooves. I know the Cup 2 is much better than the Cup 1 in the wet, but against the Super Sports???

    Michelin states it in comparison to the Pilot® Sport Cup+, not the Super Sport. It would be a joke! Overall, if you want to drive to the track and back - maybe in wet conditions - the SS i the better tire in my eyes.

    Last year, a colleage and me drove to the GP1-circuit Spa-Francorchamps in Belgium and had three days of rain - he was desperate with his Cup 2 and I was happy with my Super Sports!

    I just completed a tour of Europe (Venice to UK, via numerous passes including a very wet Stelvio and Ofenpass to St. Moritz) and the cup2 tyres on my Speciale are clearly awesome - even in the wet, which was a shock to me.

    I drove from Reims to the middle of the UK (about 400 miles) on Tuesday in pouring rain with shallow standing water everywhere and high motorway speeds were no problem at all. I couldn't believe it!

    On the passes, when dry, the grip levels were superb and in fact the whole car was just freakily brilliant. It is the best car from many that I have ever owned. Brilliant brilliant brilliant! What a thrilling car Ferrari have made with the Speciale.

    I have them too for my M3 CSL. Amazing in the wet, i would say very different with the cup1. Gets warm fast. In the Nurburgring and Spa the car act excellent.

    I've also heard some Carrera GT Owners to claim that with the cup2 they've felt that there were driving a different car. Cup2 really helped some cars to show their real potential.

    Thanks to the OP for offering the opinion. I've been looking at the Cups.

    I have Speciale Aperta wheels on my Italia, and I am running stock Italia MPSS without any problems.

    What were all those hairpins on the Stelvio like in a Speciale? That drive is hard work in a regular car so it must quite some work in a Speciale.

    I just completed a rally in California with 12 F-Cars in my Speciale. Sacramento, Tahoe, Yosemite, Monterey, Napa. We had some very wet roads in Yosemite in the mountains with switch backs, hairpins, twisty hills and declines.

    I second your comment.. the Speciale was absolutely brilliant and stuck to the wet roads beyond belief. I've done track days in the rain with Super Sports and fishtailed all over the place.. the Cups on my Speciale (CT-Off of course) were far superior.

    Slightly? The diameter is 0.9" shorter in the rear and the fronts are 0.2" taller. You essentially offset the size by 1.1" + your rear will sit 14mm lower compared to the front, if the ride height is not adjusted.

    Have you driven in Sport or Wet mode? I've yet to see anyone on this forum, or any owner I know, who did not have issues. Could it be that your shop reset the system for the size? Some say this is possible.

    where is that statement ? I don't believe it. The SS have more channels to move water.
    Super Sport Left, Cup 2 right. to me SS appears to have the wet advantage.

    Sorry! The fine print reads in comparison to the Sport Cup plus tire and not Super Sports. Like you if love to see a comparison though.

    The tread is 20% deeper than the Cups and there may be some compound improvements too because there is also the claim of longer life at the track.

    There is no question the Cup 2 is a better track tire. The Cup 2's NO spec for Porsche 991 GT3 became unavailable so some heavy trackers where using K-spec Ferrari Super Sports. The report was the grip on the dry on track was not as good as Cup.

    In the meantime I can't get a set of MPSS because there are no rear tires available for my 458 anywhere.

    An oddity. Something is wrong with Michelin distribution. I had trouble getting the rears for my FF also. Finally opted for Panamera Turbo S version.

    My Pirelli was punctured today, so good time to upgrade all 4 finally. But, there are no PSS's available anywhere until January 2016 at the earliest. I'm stuck with buying another Pirelli.

    MPSS made in France, FWIW.

    I run MPC2 whenever I'm on track but street tires are MPSS on both the Speciale and Black Series, since I live in Scandinavia and the MPSS are a bit more of a handfull, when it's raining etc. :)

    If I lived a place, where the weather always were +10°C I would have the MPC2 on always for sure! I just love that tire, so much grip!
