Doesn't look too bad I think, I will check tomorrow. Thanks for your comment about the wheel arch / back bumper, I didn't know it is so common. But so ugly, I will try to paint it and have it covered somehow. But not much hope if you all tried already...

I backed over a rock in a 355B I owned many years ago and it left a similar mark to yours on the underside of the rocker panel... I hated myself for it but it was cosmetic and hidden under the car so no real biggie!

It may be that the car has been tracked and what you are seeing is a result of the gravel getting thrown off the tires at high speed.. That certainly was the case on my CS which I tracked a lot. It kind of became a badge of honor for me "Track guy" and i'd always check to see how much I'd worn away after every outing :) The downside for you may be that the car has been tracked a lot, so you might want to double down with an independent pre purchase inspection if you are concerned.

I have my entire Speciale filmed, with a double and triple thick layers on the high impact areas. This has worked extremely well, as I have a terrible highway from my driveway. The highway was recently chip sealed, and no paint penetration yet!

I did the same thing to mine, not a mark on it in 5000km.
I also took the diffuser off and covered it in its entirety. If you don't it will get sandblasted.

This was from a local San Francisco bay area car show this weekend....check out the NART stripes including on the mirrors and steering wheel.....and obviously the rest of the special editions!! including the 250 GTO ....

check out the 2 videos at the end...the 250 GTO revving it up and all the cars taking off together...

Not a big fan of this Speciale.
NART stripes on mirrors is out of place.
Blacked-out bottom of the car is odd looking to say the least.
Love the stripe on the steering wheel tho.

The owner loves the NART stripe so much he has it on its watch :p

I agree. Rosso Scuderia just pops and fizzes - and is a little different from Rosso Corsa. What I like about the Rosso Scuderia is when it's overcast and the light is a bit flat (I live in the UK so this happens a lot!) the colour still "pops" visually.

Yip Anjum, Rosso Scuderia is IMHO a great colour for the Speciale. mine has the racing livery in nero rather than the NART.

start watching at 8:20 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IU7SAy12sCY this is how modern engines are broken in. And yes, it was me that said they simply haven't removed the page in the manual yet.. much like you say that forgot to include the page about bedding the brakes.

And a couple of pics of a Speciale to keep it picture thread.

Bugs are a lot different than anything Ferrari produces, save for LaFerraris. I'll bet a lot of $$$ that Ferrari does not perform 8-hour break in sessions on 458/88 engines.

Ferrari does a 3-4 hour break-in. They mount the engine in a machine that looks like a large CNC with a glass door and run the engine through all the RPM ranges for sustained periods checking power, torque, emissions and vibrations. I've seen this 1st hand at the factory.

3 hours only for prototype engines as they said in the video. Fully developed, standard production engines (which is the majority) get just a fraction of that run-in time, something closer to 30 minutes, wasn't it?

I would agree with you based on the fact that there isn't enough time to run all production motors for 3-4 hours. (+/- 7500 cars) annually.

I was told 30 minutes for 8 cylinder motors when i was literally standing in front of the test bench at the factory two weeks ago.

I could live with this Rosso Corsa :D

I like it without livery and I like gold wheels. If only the calipers weren't red (nor yellow).
