Has anyone change out there Water Temperature sensor and if so what is the procedure. I have a 91 Testarossa and the water gauge is not working. I did some testing and when I put ground to the gray wire on the water temperature sensor the gauge works Does anyone know where to source one and what is the part number. Thanks Joe
testarossa 91 or 512 TR? so still with KE-Jetronic? then this part has the number 104628. this part is nearly in all F, from the 308 to the 360, also F 50, enzo, 575 and much more if you have a 512 TR ( with motronic ) then it is 148677
I have a 91 Testarossa, is 104628 a Bosch part and what would that number be. Do you have any idea what has to be remove in order to get it out. Thanks Joe
104628 is the F number, but I think it is a bosch part, sorry, don´t know the bosch number may be an other member here has one and may have a look on this part, or look at yourself on your part. normaly the bosch number is on
HOW do you know it is the sensor ? Did you take off the wire/lead and made ground with that ? Result ?
Yes Mel as Turbo-Joe said I did that test and the gauge works fine. I need to know where to get the sensor and the part number if it's a Bosch part, also do I have to remove the LH fuel distributor to get sensor. Thanks Joe
if you have good tool may be you get it out without removing the fuel distributor. it is long ago I did and cannot remember anymore. but it is not one of the good jobs don´t forget to bleed after reinstalling the sensor the complete system take the sensor out, may be there are bosch numbers on? if so then there are 10 digits on
I found the Water temperature sensor # 104628 at TRUTLANDS for $25.00.....now the only thing I have to do is figure out how to get it out.
You will probably need to remove the grill piece just behind the rear window, only 4 nuts to remove I believe. I don't think you'll need to remove the fuel distributor to get to the sensor. If you need to apply a lot of torque to remove the sensor - be careful not to overstress the water "gooseneck" as you may break off the mounting ears. If you end up having to remove the gooseneck to do the job right, I believe other items will also have to be removed also. This job could be a pain but not overly complicated.
Here is the link for the temperature gauge issue I faced last month and Steve M. helped me out. It turned out to be a faulty C11 connector. Yours might be a different problem bit its worth checking this out. http://www.ferrarichat.com/forum/boxers-tr-m/496539-testarossa-87-temperature-gauge-issue-please-help.html
when you remove the wire directly from the sensor and put in on ground and then the gauge works it never could be the C 11 connector then
As it turned out it was the C11 plug. The plug was working intermittently so I clean all the connections and everything is working fine. Thanks to ALL. Joe
That connector is responsible for a lot of problems, many intermittent. It gets corrosion. It didn't help that is was located under the water tank.
Glad to help out. You might want to replace the C11 connector at some point in the near future. I replaced mine and haven't had any intermittent starting issues since. You can get the parts from Digikey - shown in the thread.
