Driving through Tenterfield today and watched a C17 Globemaster come through the valley at about 200 feet and then up over the ridge by Mt MacKenzie. I've watched F111's using TFR and talked to B52 pilots about it but I have never seen a heavy down that low and quick. Wish I could have got the camera out. John
Don't know how many people here like podcasts, but I listen to them a lot when working, driving, running etc. One of my favourites is Omega Tau, lengthy in-depth discussions with experts on a lot of aviation (and non-aviation) related topics - there are episodes with pilots who flew Concorde, Blackbird, U-2, Space Shuttle etc, Apollo book authors, a guy who owns a Harrier, and so on. Anyway, on a more Australian note, the most recent episode is a chat with Matt Hall, former RAAF F/A-18 (and exchange USAF F-15E) pilot and current Red Bull Air Race competitor. I found it pretty interesting! 183 ? Aerobatics and Red Bull Air Racing | omega tau
Did a visit to HARS.. HARS - Historical Aircraft Restoration Society Highly recommended go and talk to heaps of knowledgeable old guys.. Park right under a 747, sit in an F-111, wander inside a Connie and much more.. Lots of room unless you're pulling out the nav computer Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
Cool. I found plenty of room for my normal build.. like the idea of thermos behind the seat.. after finishing contents handy to pee back into on long missions no doubt. Connie is a beautiful aircraft.. saw flying at last Temora warbirds.. down at HARS can get in and look around to heart's content. Was nice to do the same on 747 there too.. not rushing off and on as pax, can just stop and gawk as long as you like anywhere.. Interesting navigating on the Connie windows top of fuselage and port for sextant like periscope to shoot the stars of all things.. nav table with instrument opp the crew bunks.
