My head lights are fogged. i think it happens to a lot of these cars. Does anyone have a recommendation for someone in Los Angeles who is great with this repair? any idea what this should cost to fix?

Mine are too, and they were already replaced once by the first owner under warranty.

Guys, this is a known terminal issue with the carbon fiber headlamps. So buying a new set for $7,900 or whatever they go for nowadays (like I once did) won't solve things...the fogging/hazing will come back eventually.

Some folks on here have had success with a few different approaches:

    1) Taking a heat gun to the outside of the headlamp unit and gradually heating them up. Some including myself had zero success with this approach, probably because we have 3M clear bra protection over them. Also be aware, some folks who tried this approach cooked their headlamp lenses and blemished them permanently

    2) Taking the headlamp unit assembly apart and cleaning them up from the inside. This seems to be the more effective approach but requires more effort

...and the hazing comes back anyway.

Aren't there some folks out there who don't have this issue? I'm tempted to get new ones and see if I get lucky.

Has anybody had any negative effects from clear bra on the headlights? I've heard that the reflective can cause damage. I've always put them on my cars, but not this one. Ironically, the previous owner clear bra'd the whole car, but not the headlights.

What do they do to address the issue? Does it seem like a permanent fix?

they are less susceptible from what i know. There are 3 '08 car owners w zero issues in my area and none of them are ever shy about making fun of my fogging/condensation headlamps...

I haven't seen a single non-carbon headlight SCUD myself/in-person that DID have the issue. But my sample size is small.

At this point I've accepted it as a fact of life and moved on to other things that bother me with the SCUD. :)

I haven't had any issues with my '09. Stored inside (as I'm sure all Scuds are).

    I recommend this:
    1. Turn of headlights often. I think they are molds due to moisture.
    2. I use a head gun. I do it when I start to see the fogginess. It's a long process, you need to be patient. Heat up the lens but keep it a distance like about a feet. It would disappear.

I used a heat gun. It faded the hazing but didn't remove it. I also only drove with the headlights on but it still came back. I don't think headlights do much to prevent it.

The heat gun is effective. Thats is why I dont worry about it anymore, I know I can remove it with the gun. I guarantee it if you use it patiently. I will post pic of my before and after if I find my pics.

But I noticed also, before I dont use the headlights as I hardly use the car at nights. But now, even on daytime, I use it and the hazziness is not a fast to develop. The last time I used the heat gun was summer. I am sure during winter it would develop again but my gun is hot and ready.

I just got a 2008 430, but the LED lights are not working on the drivers side. Anyone have this issue?
