The rear window in my 1997 Berlinetta has a narrow band along the lower edge of the glass at the center of the car that looks "cloudy", like it has been "frosted", but the glass is clean and I even tried wiping it with some lacquer thinner on a clean cloth on both the inside and the outside. No difference. There is no roughness on either side of the glass, either. See the attached photo. Has anyone else had this issue, and is there a way to fix it? It is only a small strip maybe a little less than 1" tall and about 24" wide, does not continue into the curved parts and is not that way on the sides along the buttresses, and does not interfere with rear vision, but it bugs me.

Search here on "delamination". I have read on here before about rear glass delamination issues on the 348/355.

Yep. Happened to me. And then, the replacement glass started delaminating within a week. Dealer took care of it; that was 2 years ago and nothing since.

Mine has the same issue. Been there since I bought it. I've replaced my windshield (well, not *me*, an installer), but haven't bothered to replace the rear glass as I've heard it's a much more complicated and costly process. I had a somewhat tough time sourcing a replacement windshield and believe I've heard the rear glass is even more rare.

I had similar clouding all around the edges of the windsreen on my Triumph Stag after some 20 years so it is not Ferrari specific.

On the 348/355, it looks like the engine heat contributes to the clouding in the lamination. I believe the rear screen on the 348/355 can easily be made of polycarbonate. I would go for this option even if the original part is available, considering the prices of GBP 1,500 or USD 2,800.

The front windshield and in this case probably the rear also are made from two sheets of curved glass with a PVB interlayer (laminated glass) to hold everything together. Normally it works great, but in this case I suspect water is infiltrating the edge of the laminated glass and reacting with the PVB. It is possible the rear can be sourced as a tempered glass unit?

Pilkington now produces both pieces, rather than Sigla.

    Easy to get now.

As others have stated its delamination and it is a separation between the sheets of glass.....if you can't live with it replacement is the only option.
