Thanks. Do you have any more information from Carfax? Like a date of the damage. Location where it happened. $$$ amount of the damage?

Granted I am not familiar with anything but US market cars but how does one get the seatbelt through the hole in the seat like that? I could understand if it had a racing harness but that just appears to be the standard seatbelt.

Not hard. Just undo the bolt that secures the belt to the seat. You can then thread the belt through the hole in the seat.

reduces wear on the part of the seat which the belt would be rubbing otherwise when worn....

I guess I should have been more clear in how I posed the question. Did some cars come that way or did the owner do that?

From the images I have seen, that was done by the owner. The holes in the seats are designed for racing harnesses. So, God forbid you lace the regular belt through it, the black helicopters and men with clipboards will be showing up! :)

I have enquired - Japanese import, makes it very hard to track it's history (good luck reading the invoices and what nut)
asking 175k£ (I think way too rich for that much risk)

Agreed! That's a healthy ask for a lhd car. Japan is rhd country so that's a little odd

It's because it's a big deal to the Japanese to have cars as they are configured for their native country. They consider it a more authentic experience.

I actually like that line of thinking a lot.

for 11 years, did they do any maintenance to the car? Maybe fire up and up to temp every month?

eng oil/trans oil/coolant/PS fluid/brake fluid change every year?

At the height of the CS deification, somewhere in england somebody asked for 300,000 british pounds, that's more than $450,000, and its has a few thousand miles.

not sure if it went through though

I would bet it did not - he does this with so many cars that come from his very "limited" customer that is a mega car collector.

He puts stuff on and takes it down all the time. Many times it's his one collector that already bought the car and it goes up on the site and in a week ................. sorry....just sold.

So many of the dealers are doing this now it is annoying,
