97 Spider, I can assure you that your family would not be better off. I have been on that side. After 20 + years I am still pissed. Permanent end to a temporary problem. Seriously, take a close look at the Surgery center of OK. You may find it is more affordable than an engine out service
You could always move to Canada? What about having it done overseas? There's lots of "surgery resorts" now with world class doctors littered around the world.
I know, I know. It's just hard to think rational when my pain meds have been useless and I've barely slept in the last couple weeks. You start getting real stupid. I have an appointment in a couple hours to get something different to try. That place in OK looks like a serious option. That amazing if that's for real. My surgery is scratched for Thursday but my doctors and sergeon are sure they can make a case to the ins company. It sounds like my doctors are completely convinced nothing short of fusions will do at this point. Some doc at the insurance company who likely doesn't even practice medicine thinks they could try partial discectomys and decompression. Etc. If that fails then they would ok to move on to the fusions. My doctors say its way past that point and it would be a complete waist of time. I'd end up going through two surgeries and the insurance would just end up paying for two surgeries because they tried to save a buck. They did say if the ins company oks one surgery or the other and comes back to saying they will cover 60% then they are not so worried about the rest and could work out a very favorable deal with my for what I'd owe. They are not ready to talk about anything not including the insurance co yet. They think they have a very stong case to get them to pay. We'll see I guess.
We are so lucky to live in Canada...Best of luck Brian get better soon remember if i still have my GTB in april it will be waiting for you.
The OK place is real for sure. I have spoken with the CEO a couple of times, and he has done a number of interviews that should be online. With my 6K deductible, it is on my radar if I ever need something done. I feel for you. I have been through some back pain (herniated disc) for the last month or so. It doesn't sound as bad as you, but it has been the worst six weeks of my life. Back pain just sucks. As my back got better , my attitude improved as well. Hope this works out for you. Fingers crossed.
My hope was that they would get me feeling better and I could get the interior put back in the 69 camaro pictured earlier. I plan to send it to a new owner right when the snow starts melting. I've had a few offers to take it the way it is but I'd hate to sell a car that comes with boxes of parts. Then again maybe I should just let it go and take one thing off my plate. Hopefully if I get it together and get enough out of it and you still have your car it will all come together. It appraised for over $70k once upon a time so hopefully I can get it back to that condition and the market has a pulse. Right now all I can think is sell sell sell. I hope I'm in a better place by April.
Wow. What a surprise turn of events. Hang in there Brian. It will work out in the end. I would comment on "health insurance" but we would be in P&R awful quickly. Take care man...
