The 288 GTO 0-60 mph in the upper 4 second range. Ferrari claimed 0-125 mph in 15 seconds flat. Top speed was 189 mph, making it the first street-legal production car to reach 186 mph. Of course the BB 512 or Countach weren't mentioned either

And still the corvette is the one I would least likely want to be seen in public in.

Still holds true today. I M fortunate enough to own a F430 and ZR1 and the Corvette accelerates faster, higher top speed, faster cornering and better braking. It is also very predictable and more comfortable for long trips. However, the Ferrari is far more engaging to drive.

That's funny as I love both the Corvette and Ferraris. Still, my girlfriend bets me every time as we pass or approach a 'vette that "some old haole dude" will be driving it. She's right every time...sadly.

In another thread there was a question about actual 308 top speed.

The 308 QV real top speed is the one measured by Motor Trend: more or less 245 km/h. That's a correct data. The (real) top speed I know (as I read them on some European magazines at those times) are: 238 km/h (euro carbed); 245 km/h (euro QV); 251 km/h (turbo intercooler), 256 km/h (328)

    ciao

I had a C6 for a little while. It was fun, but it rattled, and was cheaply built. It was definitely quick. I have an absolute disdain for anything corvette built after 1972 and before 1994 (excluding the C4 ZR1). Someday I'll be an "old Haole dude" and can get away cruising one with the top down, but in the mean time, I like the 308.

Here at the marina theres a guy with a 2011 Vette. One day my 328 and his Vette were parked next to each other and we were talking. Another marina goon walked by and said, "Hey, you guys should go out race these two!" I started to say, "Bob's Vette would blow me and this Ferrari into the weeds without even trying" but before I could get the words out, Bob, said, "Race against a FERRARI? You have to be kidding. There's no way I could keep up."

As far as top speed, when people ask, I just reply, "The speedometer says one-eighty." The response is always, "WOW!" or something like that.

You don't have to BE fast, you only have to LOOK fast! :)

Similar but older, I have a euro 308 and a C4 ZR-1 and I love them both. The ZR-1 will kill the 308 in every single performance category (would take a 360 to equal it), and is a phenomenal road trip car, tracks beautifully with fingertip control, comfortable, reliable and with the adjustable suspension it's actually a decent ride. It's my daily driver. But the 308 is much sweeter to drive, far more feel, it dances with you. Love them both.

And I have gray hair...."old haole dude," love it!

Well I don't think I'm old, and I'm certainly not a haole (as I'm neither "white" nor Hawaiian), so I guess it's good that I own a 308 and not a Corvette. I do see a Corvette in my near future though!

I'm sorry for the Corvette, It can be as fast as a lightning, but I wouldn't exchange the slowest Ferrari with the fastest Corvette. ;)

    Yep.

And I only like the "Coke Bottle" Vettes.
