CHP on the 15

I drove from Vegas to SoCal this past Sunday which I do every couple of weeks and drove past three white CHP Ford Explores at the top of the pass (by the mine), two were giving tickets and one had his gun and busted someone as I was passing. I was going South they were working the North side. My radar didn't pick up any signal which scared the crap out of me, no laser or anything.

From what I've seen they have been only driving the older black and white sedans this is the first time I saw the white Explores so I'm assuming they have new radar in them which is actually laser. I'm not sure why my Passport didn't pick it up at all though?

Further South at the first rest stop you encounter in California there had to be at least 20 CHP cars on each side of the freeway inspecting trucks they had tents set up it was crazy. They also had the older sedans littered all the way to Barstow using the traditional radar which I did pick up.

I drove back today (Tuesday) and passed two white sedans in the Barstow fruit inspection area that my radar didn't pick up. The one black and white I passed my radar did pick up.

So be warned! Any suggestions on a new radar detector that might be more effective?
