They have it... bought it for 16.5 million!

I am lucky drove her 100,000 miles and loved every mile :) I expect to do the same thing with my 550.

No doubt you've put more miles on her than anybody else ever has or ever will. Well done!

3269 GT belongs now to a Swiss Investor, who leaves the car with Talacrest in the UK (because of tax issues with Switzerland).

Such a shame not to enjoy the car, if only to look at it daily. Such an iconic design, how can you only visit it a couple of times a year?

Ah well, not for me to judge I suppose. I still don't have a garage at my house... I think its time I start moving to a place where my dog can guard my Ferraris. :)

I wonder if they bought the car for him ?

If not that was a pretty quick sale.

    Cheers

Who says he is not going to enjoy it? Who says he is going to visit it only a couple times a year?

The Swiss billionaire has a place in the UK as well, plus in several other countries too.

Thank you Marcel for clearing that up it just makes more sense.

I do hope the gentleman that bought it does come to see it, feel it, touch it, and above all drive it !

If he is a car guy, and not just an investor he will really enjoy driving this wonderful little car it handles a lot differently then other SWB 250s.

Once again thank you for filling us all in with the correct
    information.

    Cheers,

imho awful PR to offer something which is not really for sale...

we have seen such nasty games in recent years in the real estate market and now you report the car *dealer* to copy such imho obvious childish "business" style....lol....

imho any serious person will be fooled only 1 single time in his life by such *dealer* and will never ever contact them again...

Hi Bill. I've just read - for the first time - the entire thread. It's a wonderful story and by far the most interesting and evocative I've ever read here. A priceless journey through time, thank you for sharing your special history with this beautiful special car.

If someone from outer space wanted to understand what is the passionate relationship between man and motor, this thread is all they would need.

One question, if the new Swiss owner said it was cool for you to take her out again, would you? I ask because my first Ferrari was a 550 Maranello. I bought her when she was 12 months old; that was in 1999. I've added several Ferraris since (nothing quite as exotic as your old car). All are more powerful than my 550, all are more thrilling.

But none are as special to me as my 550. Yes, it's a superb car in its own right and yours looks superb too. But that's not it.

It's because my 550 holds so many special memories for me and as time passes it becomes an even deeper part of my personal history. One day I will sell all my cars, that's inevitable. My 550 will be the last depart. Not for a long time God willing but at some point. And so I was thinking would I want to drive her again? The sounds, smell, experience, the tiny details only an owner would know. They would bring back a tsunami of memories. All good, but still pretty intense.

Your old car is not in the same universe as my 550, not even close, and your history with it dwarfs mine with the 550. But would you take your old car out again? I hope so. For me that would be really cool.

Thank you again. A wonderful story.

Absolutely ! It would be a great deal of fun, and I hope really do hope that the gentleman who purchased her is a car guy.

If he is he can drive her all the time and enjoy every moment, when the time comes that he wishes to make money on his investment, he can take her in and have her restored to the level she's at right now !

We know that can be done just by looking at my daily driver, and seeing how beautifully she has been restored....

I like you just love my 550! There are many things that are a lot better in the 550 then my old SWB... but she was a joy to drive :)

    Cheers,

    Bill

Ps: if the current owner reads this thread let's hope he extends you an invitation! Then you can travel to the UK, and I'm sure some us here would make a visit of it! Worth creating a road trip to remember lol.

    Same car, different story...

    *****100.000 miles***** only ?

Bill Karp: "I am lucky drove her 100,000 miles and loved every mile" thus 100.000 miles from 1967 to 1980.

    *****Purchased by Talacrest August 2015*****

Ah well now i understand, no "swiss billionaire" in sight.
