I have an original 5 speed manual in and 85. It is more fun to drive from point of view of shifting but bet no faster than my American 84.
Bad mistake. Received photo of dash buttons. Has front and rear defrost. Very unusual interior color. I thought the pale color was only on Mideast cars.
You're right Mitchell, the light/off white interior was offered only on cars destined for the Middle East as far as I can find. The Royale was also offered with the lighter interior. From my POV it isn't nearly as nice looking as the natural/tan leather color, although the ad says that the interior was "professionally cleaned and re-colored", it looks like it was re-colored the wrong color. Oh wait, there's no smog stuff in the engine bay and it has the Euro air filter cover. Maybe this was actually a car imported from the Middle East. That would make more sense, and mean the interior color is in fact correct. I don't have an overview of VINs, maybe someone else does? It is nice to see another survivor though, hope it finds a good home.
Called and will allow a PPI. He lives in the Chicago area. He has 50+ cars and another QP3. I am concerned about the wiring. He said it had never been worked on. This car can be bought for what my insurance company paid for my burnt one.
My '85 is a euro spec car that was originally delivered to Germany and has off-white upholstery. I think it was inspired by the color scheme on the '83 used by the Italian President Pertini. I've seen a few other euro cars with off-white upholstery on the web occasionally, I think the light leather was a special order color, and maybe in only offered in Europe. There is also a very bright, pure white interior leather that I understand was offered to mideast customers only. Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
I took these pictures while visiting the Tupelo Automobile Museum last weekend. Its located in Tupelo, MS and they have a very diverse collection of cars there. The '82 QPIII was the only Maserati on display, representing the 1980s with a Lagonda and a DMC12 among others. A quick look at the Service Manual and User Manual appears to give different valve clearance values. The Service manual says 0.03 - 0.05mm clearance, max 0.06mm on the intake side, while the User manual engine details says 0.25 - 0.3mm if I'm reading it right. I had the valve clearances measured recently while the cam covers were off, the mechanic said he registered 0.06mm on one cylinder, which in his opinion needs addressing and must be way out of spec. Does anyone know with certainty the correct valve clearance specs? Thanks!
My rear shocks, brakes, bearing project arrived sooner than expected. surprisingly only took 2 hours to get the whole assembly out. found 2 broken springs, one on each side. Brake pads are shot. Rotors are fine. Does any one have an idea where i can find one of these sockets? Has 4 pins, outside diameter of socket would need to be about 50mm, inside around 38mm. (2" OD, 1.5" ID). Searched our forum with no luck. Poked around Jaguar forums and haven't found anything yet. Nick Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
Hi Nick... Did you follow the manual to get the assembly out? If not, can you describe the steps you took to get it out? Might be helpful to some of us, especially what you used to lower the assembly to the ground... Thanks... Mike
The socket you need. You are working on an 'N' series nut. Check OTC Mitchell, thanks, but what is OTC? Nick
Hi Nick... Thank you for the info! I was surprised (happily ) by the way that it took you only 2 or so hours to remove the rear assembly!! I will need to do this soon myself! I also sent you a pm... Mike
Is a specialty tool vendor. Google. A tool truck guy like, Snap-On. Or Mack should be able to order. You can buy direct
Update to my rear end project. Bought a 38mm impact socket and made my own 4 pin socket to remove axle nuts. Took a little time, but wasn't too hard with a bench grinder. Spent about 5 hours removing hub, springs, half shafts, calipers and brake rotors. All pretty straight forward, no surprises. Only snag so far is the bolt/rod holding or connecting one of the hubs to suspension is frozen. Been soaking it in PB Blast and hitting it with heat for good measure. Split calipers in half and soaked them in parts cleaner, caliper pistons are shot, and managed to snap off 3 brake line nuts. While I'm in here I will be replacing differential pinion seal, and slapping some paint on the frame work. My helper suggests that I use pink for the suspension sub-frame. Good work Nick!!! Keep it up and keep us informed.. Hope your helper doesn't charge you too much!!! Mike
My helper looks an awful lot like your helper, just that he's a boy. But he likes bright colors too, and I'm sure would second the proposal to paint the undercarriage pink ;-) Image Unavailable, Please Login
I've tried heat and a 20ton shop press. Going to soak it for a while in acetone and atf fluid. Heard it works. We'll see. And how do i rotate this pictures???? Image Unavailable, Please Login
QP3. the ebay camo one $3,000. he is not responding to well. I ask for a photo of both sides of the title and have not seen anything yet. I have two really nice bodies with like new interiors. and now a decent mechanic at $15 this car makes 8
It's a disease, Mitchell Title, schmitle. Now you have another parts car. When do you plan on taking orders for what's left over? <ducks!> Pics?
