The original owner kept 57223 for 25 years before he tax traded it against a new 599 GTO. Marcel Massini
Kind of like my childhood friend who bought (stole regarding the lack of appreciation at said time) a unrestored/original GTO "Judge" convertible from our neighbor. Within 10yrs years of his purchase and sale the market on his vehicle had hit $250K and he purchased the vehicle for less than $25K. He sold the car (still cries about it today) to fund his "slum-lord" purchase of a condo complex. The point is that the 599 GTO will NEVER (imo) be as desirable or valuable as a 288 GTO.
I'm not weighing in on the 288 vs. 599 valuation as I think it's utter speculation. That being said have you had real seat time in a 599 GTO ? I drove mine for a hour today and can't stop smiling. The 599 GTO is an utterly amazing and challenging driver. You do yourself a disservice to not acquire some real seat time in one. She's a fire breathing beast that will knock your socks off !
Never had any doubt the 599 GTO is not special and I would enjoy some seat time in one but then again I will probably never get any 288 GTO seat time either, suckage. PS, Stephen you just ship your GTO down to Houston for me to drive to next weekend's meet!

I'm arranging to have her shipped overnight to you for your cars and coffee meet lol ! But seriously get some seat time in the 599 GTO; I guarantee you won't be disappointed. Total 100% shock and awe material. It's just a matter of time before the 599 GTO stands tall with the other great Ferrari Supercars. So let it be wtitten so let it be done !!!

That's part of what happened. Ferrari Beverly Hills wanted 288 GTO 57223 pre-sold as payment for the 599 GTO, and in order to facilitate this, on Monday August the 10th 2010, the car was sold to P.M in the UK by Joe Sackey Classics LLC.

looks to me like they have ruined the car by giving it a new interior. This was it last year. Image Unavailable, Please Login
That is nice, I think we featured this model early in the thread. You may wish to pick up a copy of the epic magazine article in which your car is prominently featured also: EVO magazine Issue 64 02/2004 Ferrari 288 GTO, F40, F50, Enzo, BMW, Maserati, Peugeot: Amazon.co.uk: Richard Meaden: Books

What have they they done, I went to see this car the other day, it looks like the leather that would be trimmed on a Mercedes, the steering wheel is terrible. Also can some one tell me what the adaptation that has been fitted to the cross member in the engine bay just below the intercoolers,Approved Used - 1998 Ferrari 288 GTO GTO Rosso Corsa Photo 25
WOW! The detail of that model is simply stunning! Looking forward to seeing a picture of it when assembled! Going to have to put one of these on my Christmas list!
I wonder what happened to the chassis number on the steering column (fonts have changed)? I took the first photo on the 24th September 2003 in Switzerland. The second photo originates from the dealer's website this week. Clearly the tag on the steering column has been exchanged, restamped, whatever. Marcel, yes it seems that the interior now shows the factory orange inserts. And the VIN badge change is really interesting and confusing!
