Did not sell. Went up to 122k bid and stopped. I saw the car, and although it had been recently resprayed to what seemed like a good standard, the rest of the car was woefully mismatched in that it looked tired inside, wrong speaker grills, wrong window buttons, the temperature bezels were flaking off, the door cards were unhinged, wrong exhaust and rear valence, engine bay very untidy with oil splashes everywhere, and carpet panels under rear lid also flaking away, no tool roll, no warranty card etc. And of course I didn't even drive it so very likely suspension and brakes needed attention as looked a bit grubby, and possibly gearbox as their was something wrong with the spring action of the gearlever. So overall although of course everything could be put right with the right amount of time, effort and of course money, there was a lot of work to bring the car up to a good standard, hence probably why bidding stopped.....
I am dipping my toe into looking for a 308 GTB (Fiberglass) 1975 1977 Hopefully in the US. My last import was not the most pleasant experience. Any insight on the pros and con on the early 308 GTB I have been offered a steel body last week. However, I am more interested in earlier version.
Yes, if sold it would have required another 10% on top of that, although I gather reserve on it was 135k....
Well thought I would mention that my lovely RHD Dry sump Vetro has now been sold and is going off to Australia to a proper enthusiast to enjoy! I'll still be popping in every now and again to join the conversations but hey time to move on. Now waiting for my new acquisition which will arrive once the Vetro gets shipped off. Excited. Not an another F car but a rather rare P car which is also however by and large plastic.....! So bye bye Vetro, I enjoyed having you but time to move on as I said.....
I'm incredibly surprised by this. With the high prices being achieved in the UK and the Aussie dollar being as weak as it is, I only imagined cars LEAVING these shores, not coming back. You couldn't find a quick and easy sale locally?
Well the gentleman liked the car, and he was quick off the mark and bought it what can I say? Its a global market these days for great cars.....
Great for you, and congratulations to the both of you. Any idea which state it's going to? Where did you have it advertised?
Looks nice and with low miles, wrong exhaust again though! Used 1976 Ferrari 308 for sale in Cheshire | Pistonheads Image Unavailable, Please Login
Congratulations to you, sir! And pop back in to post pictures of the new one....plastic Pcar, ....908??
According to IanB, there's one for sale in Australia for 1/2 that price, with no takers yet. http://www.ferrarichat.com/forum/144254307-post19340.html
Looks like a nice car, with a good solid history and service trail, and the exhaust good be sorted. However I just do not see this price happening any time soon. I think he is really trying to push the envelope out here to a silly extent. Maybe 180 if he is lucky as he is a dealer, but nonetheless good luck to him!
Thanks Alan. Ok even though it is off topic, just a quick photo of the new incoming then. Only 15 ever made... Image Unavailable, Please Login
Btw here is another RHD but this time priced more sensibly. Ok incorrect front spoiler but otherwise not bad.. https://www.classicdriver.com/en/car/ferrari/308-gtb/1976/338078
Wow, a GTS, that's a very special car. Looks like the Club Sport version too, amazing. And congratulations. There was one GTR delivered new to Australia, not sure where it ended up.
Cheers Carl, and yes you're spot on- a Clubsport. Quite excited about it coming.... so purpose built everything is bespoke about.
It's really interesting as there seems to be about 9 Vetros on the market at the moment in the Uk- all RHD! Seems like I sold mine before it got so crowded. Can't be doing the prices that much good- for the sellers at least! Lots of choice for the buyers though!
At the bottom of the page in the listing, it states that there are no documents with the car, perhaps meaning there is no title??
