I emailed the owner of the blue Mondial in Texas that had the "blown" engine for sale on eBay last month. Last night I offered him to take it off his hands but they got it working and will eBay it again. Is $19k too much for an 83 QV coupe?

However, mine was mechanically in very, very good order, with a full and rich service history.

    Cosmetically - not so much.

Sunroof needs "attention" on this one.

    From the ad copy:
"This model was known as a workhorse, often driven hard and put away wet, which accounts for the numerous badly beaten and worn examples currently in existence and making this example a great exception!"

"Workhorse?" "Driven hard and put away wet?"

Low value and deferred maintenance is more like it.

They do have two prices in the ad, $56,500 & $58,500. Looks like they bumped it 2K to cover the ebay fees and such.

For a black t Coupe in equal condition/mileage as my 348 I'd consider a one for one swap. ;)

Typical sales tactic, pitch the model instead of the car. In my opinion this one is over priced since it needs repair and service. Plus, being a red car it's less desirable (to me).

What is the definition for a blown engine in this case? Head gasket(s) or a valve that dropped? If the last I would not touch it unless I could get it for 10K. So much more can be broken/bent if that happens and only replacing a valve could not be enough to have it rolling and if someone sells it they are not very keen in spending money. Blown head gasket I could live with for 15K. Just as a reference, forum member Roc sold his QV for 28K in good order.

I always find it a pity that people mess up the console panel with an Alarm system LED. So many other good placed for such a tiny LED. Luckily I have them in my upper door panel next to the locking knob.

I remember that aftermarket alarm systems were so popular in the 80s and early 90s. The center console red led was intended as a theft deterrent (centrally located = higher visibility).

Who would ever thought that a replacement console panel costs $1000 new, when available.

... That one went at auction for under 40k. (Low 40's inc premium). Lovely car, it was a bargain for someone.

No offense to anyone owning a white Ferrari but white is ok for my wife's Jeep or my work truck. But a Ferrari? I don't think so.

I usually not a fan of white for any vehicle but the white 348 I saw last summer was stunning. As was the 458 Speciale at the dealer when it first came out.

Sometimes, ya just gotta see it in person (but I'm still not attracted to red Ferraris. ;) )

No offence taken Fred, I'll take this Swiss one anytime :)

Drove Jeka's Swiss '88 Mondial yesterday and it is unlike any other Mondial I have ever driven. It feels like a totally different car, with Swiss specs.
