Will you ever sell your F355 or 348 to go to a 12 cylinder? How bout some comments. We have three V8's (and three F355's) in the garage so it would not be preposterous for us to rule out swapping one of them to a v12... to add a little variety. I'm not sure if 12-cylinders will always be around with all the turbo charging across multiple brands. We have always wanted to add one. Enquiring minds want to know. A Poll has been started to provide an (anonymous) fun window into your hearts and minds... If you do not currently own a V8 - please abstain from the poll. Robb
On my second V8, 328 and now a 355. I have always lusted after a 12, strange me still loves the body of a 400/412 series and almost got a 456 this last time. Something about a 456, the lines or something ..... Then I spot a 550/575 and things start shorting out in my mind. Budget restraints keep me in the "cheaper" cars lol
The front engine V12's are more practical. Mid engine V12's are a no brainer but we're talking hypercars at that point.
I've owned a series 1 Diablo. Engine-Sound is great but not as fine tuned as a 40 valve Ferrari V8. The 348 I now have is a gocart compared to the Diablo. The Diablo was crazy fast but brakes and steering was poor.
SoCal you beat me to it. I said maybe but I really mean I want both! Someday I hope to have a 550 or even... a 599GTOOooooooooo!
I agree. Robb, I think one more option should have been added to the poll. Keep the F355 and add a 12 cylinder. I don't think I would ever sell my F355 for a 12 cylinder but would love to add a 512TR.
I voted "no." I won't sell my F355 Challenge, but a V12 "does it for me too..." . Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
I added a '91 Diablo to fill my desire for a V12 and I get to experience another marque as well. The F355 is more fun to drive overall but the power and look of the Diablo is addictive.
I added a 2015 S600 to my car collection last year. I probably won't own a Ferrari V12 because I want a manual tranny and the older cars (pre LdM) that have these are way out of my price range and the newer ones don't.
I think Barry has a great combo with v8 track car v12 street car (that also sees track time). Obviously, it is a perfect place to be in if you can one v8 and one v12. But if that isn't always feasible or economically possible, I was curious as to the group's leanings... We have the F355 challenge that will be back on the track in the next 6 months. Then our other two F355 are for the street. The only bad news with that can be variety. In our case, it may make sense to move one so we have a v8 and v12 for the street to go with the challenge car. Hard decision because of the time of sorting the cars and trying to balance all of life's other costs while still being married... So I think if the right 12 comes up, we might have to make a move. But no hurry at all. In the meantime, adding a capristo stage 2/3 (the louder one) in the net few weeks. it's been an ugly year with family issues but looking forward to getting back to less stress. It's not really v8 vs. v12, it's more f355 vs. what else is out there at a similar price. There's nothing, Ferrari or otherwise, I'd rather have for what I could sell it for and indeed nothing really within $100k of it I'd rather have. I'd rather have it than a 360 or 430 v8 wise, and I'd rather have it than a TR or 456 v12 wise. I'd have to think long and hard about switching to a 550, 512TR or BB, and probably wouldn't do it. I'd even have a tough time switching to a Daytona as it's just not as sporty of a car. I don't really like the 599 as it's just too big. The f12 I might go for, so maybe 15 years from now that'll be a reality but I'm not sure the 458/f12 styling will age well. I like the 458 but not enough to swap.
Will never sell my 95 348 spider. Brother has recently purchased a 91 Diablo. That takes care of the v12 need. I was actively hunting for a pristine 95 355 Gtb 6sp but have now found myself really wanting a 348tb which I plan on modifying heavily. I think this may happen sooner than later. Last car on my mind is a 550. Regret not getting one earlier. The true GT cruiser IMO. Other than that, have no interest in any of the newer Ferrari's on the market (helps when the wife agrees, we passed a 458 speciale the other day and she commented that our 348 looks way better hehe).
Love to with enough bucks. Was toying with trying to find a manual 575 until other people got the same idea and prices went through the roof. Oh Well, Keeping an eye out for something else.
355's are hard to replace I would add to the stable but not replace it....at least not at this point in my life. However a 330GTC would be nice
Not a fair poll. I love several of the V12 cars & would love to own one, but I would not sell my 348 for one, at least at this point. Maybe when I'm too old to get in & out of the 348, but at that point I probably won't be willing to make the effort to own an F-car anyway.
