550 Barchetta Helmets: How expensive are they to obtain?

The later of the two,if I'm right they also came in different sizes as well.

 

Look on eBay and keep your eyes open. It took me 2 years but I found a set. I believe they came in SML sizes.

 

Relatively easy to find the helmets. Beware of fakes though. They are out there too. It's been a while since I got mine. Prices for this memorabilia seems to have risen just like the cars.

The hardest thing to find are the ball caps that came with the USA spec cars. Those are impossible but I managed to find them after 3 yrs of looking.

 

You will pay over $5,000 for them. Beware of fakes, but you can spot them if you are careful.

 

What is a 'ball cap'?

 

It's a hat that resembles the hat worn by a baseball player.

 

I thought it was a jock strap

 

Can someone post a picture of what exactly a Barchetta helmet looks like?

I envision a closed face helmet with an open top!! Hahahah!!

Wow!...I really like the retro look of the helmet...very retro even 20 years ago!

 

I would also recommend getting the luggage to complete the set. The helmets are really cool.

How can one tell the difference between a new and a fake?

 

In 2015 I was able to acquire the ball caps , helmets and luggage by posting an ad in Fchat..
regarding the fake helmets ferrari also sold this helmet a few years ago through the ferrari store...they were virtually identical the barchetta helmets....except only the correct helmets will have the word Barchetta on the back .
Another note To be aware is they have the coating that gets stickie...

That is how you can tell that it’s a genuine Ferrari item - fakes can’t reproduce the stickies! LOL!

I asked the well known stickie experts and they werent sure said i could send it to him to look at.. i did not try. Later found non stickie helmets.

 

I have this issue with two Barchetta helmets....the irony here is these have never ever seen sunlight of any description and still they have become slightly sticky.

 

Sounds like headache to me!
