Life with a turbo Porsche ?

I've always loved the look of the ruf speedline wheels, for me the best aftermarket wheel for a 930 and derivative.

 

i luv the looks of the RUF wheels too... unfortunately both versions weigh a ton especially compared to the lightweight fuchs which is somewhat inexcusable given there price for as a hi performance upgrade.

got me thinking should one be making a light weight forged repo version along with a wider 11x17 for the rears?

 

Wonder if it would be $$ prudent? Seems most folks are hemorrhaging anything aftermarket these days in favor of Fuchs or 'other original'? These more than any other are worthy of what you speak of, too bad they weren't engineered originally with weight factored in more.

 

I took the BBS LMs off my 930 this weekend and put on some 17" Euromeisters so it has "the look". lol I would put some 16x7x8 Fuchs on the car, but they don't fit with my BBK. Took it out for a short drive to settle the suspension and shoved it back in the garage.

On Pelican, there is a thread where a guy built his own 17" 3 piece wheels out of 6s. He cut the centers out, trimmed them on a lathe, got inner and outer blanks, drilled them for 20 bolts, did the same for the centers. Incredible work in a home garage! 14.3 lbs front, 15.2 lbs rear.

yes it is odd since speedlines (one of the two wheel company that made rufs) were known to do light mg wheels. the once seemingly indestructible fuchs over they years are now starting to have catastrophic failures now. i have the sought after 951 8x16 and late 9x16 on mine but would love wider wheels for more rubber. stock 7 and 8 x 16 on early 930 are woefully under tired for the 930 in anger.

are most people buying these cars as a collectible rather than driving?
