Hmmm...Haas could be a good place to land, if they don't pick up Gutierrez.

I could think of worse pairings to Grosjean and Magnussen.

The timing may seems ruthless, but the writting was on the wall once Buttin hinted he would drive another year.

There is really no room for a third team driver now that testing is banned.

I think Magnussen deserves a drive though.

Perez recovered from being sacked from Mclaren, so I hope Magnussen will also.

my favourite quote of the day; "An email from an assistant is still probably more caring and compassionate than a personal meeting with the Ron."

Ron has never been know for his personable ways, but this is pretty cold even for him. I can't imagine Bruce would have been impressed...

He's a big boy. F1 is not for children or people who think like one.

It's just business. Thank Bernie for that.

Did 'class' die when Ken Tyrell did? Or?

I can think of a few gentlemen that have been around after Tyrell: Sir Frank Williams, David Coulthard, and Jenson Button all spring immediately to mind.

    All the best,
    Andrew.

    This.

About as well handled as when Alonso crashed in pre-season testing and Dennis didn't even bother to speak to him. Awesome team culture.

Magnussen was probably expecting this but the delivery of the message speaks volumes about Dennis and how the team is managed. If this is how a driver is let go, I wonder how the rest of the staff is being treated at Mclaren.

The sacking of Perez a couple of years ago should have been an indication for Kevin of what was coming his way. Hopefully, like Checo, he can go to greener, better pastures.

    Frank Williams?

Utterly ruthless man who is not even kind to drivers who won his team a championship ... ask Damon Hill, for example.

Or Piquet or Mansell for that matter...

Really, if Haas isn't going to choose Alexander Rossi, they should choose Magnussen. If for
anything, his obvious outright pace but also the name recognition in the U.S.

But, they'll probably go with a driver who brings a boat load full of cash.

    Awful company.

Magnussen could have been a good fit for Haas but now that they signed Grosjean the team has a lead driver. Second driver needs to bring some experience and cash (i.e. Gutierrez)

Frank William is not a gentleman.

He has sacked unceremoniously several drivers, some of whom had just won the championship for him!

Ask Keke Rosberg, Prost, Mansell, or Damon Hill about it!!

F1 has always been, will always be cut throat. It just consistently seems McLaren is just a little more asbergers, a little more loathing of human beings, a little more people hating than other teams.

    It's just not F1. It's everywhere. Just because it's some F1 driver, i don't see any difference.

However, for KMag, he should move on. Mclaren is only going backwards, IMO.

Ehhhh - I've worked for various sized organizations (50 to 12k employees) and I've never heard of a single person fired via email - ever. Phone perhaps if they are remote or out of the office, but never via email.

Pretty much everything in F1 has 6 zeros after it. There's little time or patience for hand-holding and back-slapping atta-boys. It's a grown ups sport where you have to expect frank assessments, and "get to the point" conversations because so much is at stake... all the time.

I'm sure Mags understands this. They all have egos but I doubt he expected to be flown in to have a goodbye part with cake and balloons. These guys makes tons of money... they can suck up a little impersonal type interaction.
