Eric, Right you are, I have looked at such 355's with the intention of investing another 20k or more into the car. However this one has a major blemish with it's history. The "frame damage will live with the vin until the end of time.

It looks like a proper kept car minus the hit on its record.

I don't think it will matter in a few decades. For now, the supply and availability allows options when shopping. I don't see it being the case in 10-15-20 years from now when 355's are stuck in the hands of enthusiasts that don't ever plan on selling.

Has anyone posted this? Looks like McLaren of Philadelphia sold the 96 spider they had listed for $90k. What do you think they got? Mid 80s?

I was there this past weekend and noticed it was gone. Interested in the sale price as well. I believe they sold an '86 TR recently for $250k. They seem to have a great network of clients to sell cars!

I really like the Challenge Stradale they have there at McLaren Philly. But, I'll save that for a different thread in another section. :)

They claim to have had a $85k offer they turned down. No idea what the actual sale price was though.

I like the car color combo and sport seats. I think the interior needs to have the oem plastics restored rather than the overload of (fake) carbon fiber that doesn't match the seats...

It also needs an ash tray with flags. :) Carry on.

I could be missing something but I can only see carbon door handles and to my eyes (I'm looking on my phone) it looks like real cf.

EDIT: Looking at my computer, there is definitely more carbon fiber, however, it doesn't look like fake carbon fiber to me. It looks like real parts. Those door handles in particular look very nice and of high quality. As far as the middle, I don't see why someone couldn't swap the stock plastic ashtray into the center console and make that whole part look better.

I have seen examples where owners buy carbon fiber "looking" stickers to cover up "sticky" interior pieces rather than refinish them. So I thought that was likely with the door handles and other areas. Seeing the Custom ash tray area doesn't do it for me. I can't really tell much from the photos at these sizes so that's my best guess. It would be great to see the car in person. I thought the photos of the engine work were very thorough. And I Loved the rest of the car.

It would be interesting to know what carbon fiber parts were available as oem vs aftermarket. More power to tailoring the car to one's taste. I lean towards oem parts and originality more and more although I can absolutely appreciate custom mods.

These cars do look beautiful plain-jane though. :)

I don't get the CF stuff - unless it materially saves weight - it seems pointless. For interior stuff, you're replacing plastic with a carbon impregnated plastic for little to no weight savings and there's no structural loading going on, so it seems mostly (totally?) pointless as you don't need any extra strength. I guess people like the looks? Must be one of those things I don't get (like sf shields on a street car).

Carbon fiber is definitely a fad of the early 21st century.

In 10-20 years it'll be frowned upon and/or supplanted by the next glorious trim style.

Nice 1995 355 GTB in Rosso/Tan on autotrader today. 46k miles asking $67k USD.

Needs new tires for sure...probably due for a service as well assuming the rest wasn't maintained either.

Rear bumper wrong, repainted without black. Rear grill has mass orange peel - I suspect rear was hit. Driven like 100 miles in 10 years. 10 years since last major. I vetted car for a friend. Not worth $70k IMO

It's sold for real. :) Happy to say I just put my Washington state plates on this GTB today after taking delivery Monday. I reached out to intrepidcva and and ASK328 well before purchasing and really appreciated the feedback they gave me, as well as the general sense of heritage around this particular 355. Some fool overfilled the oil and fouled the MAF prior to it going up for sale, but I had that settled in the PPI and the engine currently sounds incredibly strong. Condition trumps mileage.

Looking forward to learning her idiosyncrasies one at a time. Each of these cars has a different soul, I've been told.

F-Chat has been a tremendous community resource to tap into for advice, news, gossip, and the occasional outlandish tale (or two). I'm looking forward to spending more time here, getting my hands dirty with as much preventive/basic maintenance as I can manage.

Ah congratulations! I was seriously tempted by that car and I'm a huge fan of that blue. Enjoy it and post plenty of pictures. How was dealing with CMC?

CMC was good - Evan, whom I worked with, is a straight-shooter. They wrangled a PPI for me (it took a while, but it got done) and nothing about the description or conversation over the car went off-script from what they actually delivered on this end.

I'd say if you see one there that really spins you up you should give them a call.

I think I just threw up a little bit. Mercer Island....it's safe to say you never worked a day in your life... ;)

I love the twisties on the south part of the island. (For those who don't know, Mercer Island is the Beverley Hills of Seattle area).

Congrats on the 355, amazing car. I am jealous you have the Cascades to go hit on the weekend!

    Aloha from Florida.

The white spider is back on eBay again with the Japanese VIN. Did this car have an accident on its record? I couldn't remember. Who has seen the car up close?
