I would like to remove the airbag warning stickers from the sunvisors My Question is that after removal the adhesive residue may stain or otherwise may not be able to come off. Does anyone have any experience removing these stickers? I'm looking for any tips on removing the stickers so that there is no residue left.

Thanks in advance for any help

    Steve

They took time in order not to pull and warp the plastic, but looked so much better. Just did it on a nice, hot day, when the glue was gooey.

I used to do it on my Audis, but I mysteriously had new visors with stickers after the next visit to the dealership. I gave up after the third set in the last car. Now, I tend to prefer cars without computers, which don't have the stupid things anyway.

USe a hair dryer. You do not want a lot of heat. But you may get residue than you have a problem. I would not try it. IF it was a vinyl sun visor heat would work.

    Karma.

How about covering with black tape? Will they run out of visors before you run out of tape?

I am shocked that staff at a dealer would:
    A) Notice and/or care about missing warnings on a sun visor and...
    B) Throw time and money away on replacing them.

it may be that removing them may be a violation of some statue...

secondly. it may a liability to not to have the stickers... failure to notify occupants that they are in the presence of explosive devices or exposed to potential dangers...

the courts are full of litigation "for failure to notify" of potential dangers... it's part our society and of "C.Y.A." philosophy, to reduce the number of claims looking for deep pockets... seems like everything has some sort of warning label / disclaimer... we're stuck with it :=)

My opinion.... the consumer can do anything he/she wants. Warning labels are requirement placed on the manufacturer. When first delivered by the dealer to the first consumer, all warning labels and safety devices must be intact. To the best of my knowledge, the consumer has only limited if any obligation to retain these. Maybe some safety devices, but certainly not sun visor stickers.

it's amazing what the litigators can come up with, especially when looking for deep pockets...

as an owner I am in agreement with doing away with the warning stickers, the difficulty comes in when someone else is using the car or a passenger is not presented with a warning... it is amazing how naïve a litigant can become when deep pockets coupled with a potential claim arises... there must be a compelling reason for a dealer to replace the missing placards

Like them or not, (and I hate them) it is Federally mandated that those 'stickers' remain on the visors.
The dealers just want to make sure Big Bro doesn't come after you....:)

Visors were grey, and black tape would have been nearly as annoying as the yellow-on-black sticker.

Don't you mean teh German Visor Cartel? :D

in answer to the original question...
I pulled the stickers off my 02 360 and the newer 430. The 360 was black, the 430 is cuoio. Neither left a mark. Pulled both off as they were curling up on the corners. Used some Chemical brothers leather conditioner and all is well.

Guess I should now be worried about the label police...

May I ask the source of your info about the federal mandate that the stickers remain?

I really doubt that the dealers give a damn that Big Bro might come after you or me.

OK ... pulled the stickers off and there was a residue of adhesive left on the visor. I have been applying leather conditioner to soften the adhesive and then gently scraping the adhesive with my finger nail. Removed nearly all of it that way.

Applied a bit of naphtha on a towel to wipe free what I could which was left after scraping and wiped it dry. Then applied some leather conditioner as the naphtha dries out the leather. It looks pretty good. If I look closely, I can still see a bit of the sticker outline, but I believe that will go away as I use some leather cleaner.

Sorry my humor didn't travel through the Internet
It IS a Federal requirement however that the cars leave the factory with the stickers attached
Once they leave the factory, I seriously doubt anyone gives a ....

Never had this issue with the Speedster.

I suppose I'd leave them on newer cars for originality, but agree they're ugly. I would be worried about using any kind of adhesive remover on leather -- have used Griot's adhesive remover on glass only.
