When I bought my 308 it was Blu Sera. Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
Hi All, Here is my Dino in Azzurro Metalizzato 106 A 32, that i am curious about colour matching to my 308 GTB (carb) ...... could someone possibly post an image of an Azzurro Metalizzato 308, to compare colour? Image Unavailable, Please Login
Haha. And I thought, when I discovered the title, that this thread has something to do with a certain kind of musical mood Best Regards from Germany Martin
I can tell you for a fact that Ferrari would put just about anything you want on the car. My 82 is painted in 503 Sebring blue it was not offered a a color option
This thread...which is somewhat active at the moment is discussing your Azzurro Met on the Dino GT/4. It may get you one step closer, timing wise, to your 308. https://www.ferrarichat.com/forum/308-328/138205-308-gt4-factory-colors-6.html Best! Hannibal
Dang. Sera is nice! I'm not sure what happened to my brain. Maybe it's because blue has always been my favorite color. Still, I never thought of it for a Ferrari until I found out mine was originally blue. Now I'm convinced that the blues are very very special on these cars. I can't see having another color on mine now. I'm just happy! Thanks all for posting. Any more blues, post 'em up, please! Ciao! Hannibal
Honnestly I loved the blue sera a lot. If I was going to buy another Mondial I would like to find one in the same color. Or buy back the same car. Look at it at night. Image Unavailable, Please Login
Bringing this thread back from the dead... Just found out my 77 GTB, which is getting restored, seems to be Blue Chiaro Metalizzato. So now we have: Blu Scurro Dino Azzurro Dino Blu Montecarlo Blu Dino Met Blu Sera Met Azzurro Met Blu Chiaro Met Also, because I have not seen this color personally (Blu Chiaro Met), does the following pic seem right? From another 77 Euro GTB like mine... Image Unavailable, Please Login
Have you read this recent thread? It may help...perhaps... http://www.ferrarichat.com/forum/308-328/501285-blu-chiaro-met.html Rgds
Bruno, Thanks, but I have read that thread and many others, none if which really help get to the bottom of the question, what did Blu Chiaro Met look like in 77. The GT4 and 2X6 version is very light and slightly green in hue. The later version seen on 80s cars is so close to Sera it's difficult to tell them apart except when near one another. The pic I posted above is a 77 Euro just like mine and is clearly not Sera or Dino...but I was wondering if it could be Chiaro? Does anyone actually have a 1977 car with Blu Chiaro on it? Thanks...
Ah yes, I now understand... But - as said in the other "blu" topic - it is very useful, whenever possible, to have the paint reference (if known, of course). The factory had a catalogue of paint options for each models, but accepted also orders for colors on special request: we know of an "i" in "Blu Sebring", of one in "Rosso Barchetta" made by the factory. The "Blu Chiaro" 106-A-38 very probably was a color from the end of the sixties, beginning of the seventies, but can also be found on some GT4s; I'll have a look at what was the "official" Glidden Blu Chiaro in 1977, and revert. Rgds
P.S: we even know of a FACTORY-PAINTED 308 GTB in "Blu Acapulco" (133-A-6), an "euro" version with a special ordered paint... Rgds
This belongs to a friend, 77 GTB and love this shade of blue but not sure what kind of blue. Anyone? Image Unavailable, Please Login
I've been looking into this recently as the original colour of my '74 GT4 is Blu Chiaro. It is confusing because there are two colours with this name, the earlier version is much lighter and was manufactured by Glidden Salchi and used up to 1980 as far as I can tell. The later darker version is made by Glasurit 1980 on. However I'm not sure if the early 308 GTB was painted with the Glidden Salchi range?
Me either. That's the gist of my question. I am sure I have never seen a 308 GTB/S painted in the early lighter, slightly greenish hued version of Blue Chiaro. I think it would be spectacular, though. That color looks splendid on GT4s, Dino 2X6s, and Daytonas...why not a 308?
A color name may survive for years in the Ferrari range of colors, with the actual color changing, even if under the same name. Two successive paint manufacturers may use the same name, but for a different color; or two different names for the same color... A color may keep the same exact name and reference, but with variations (Rosso Corsa 300, then 300/6, then 300/9, the 300/12, etc...) Colors long out of fashion may still be available on special orders, etc... So without the paint label itself, it is sometimes a very difficult exercise... Rgds
It certainly does. This is the only car so far I've been able to find in the paint / trim colours ( Blu Chiaro / Beige ) that my GT4 was in when it left the factory. Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
BLU-Acapulco (133-A-6) It's an interesting shade. Wish I could have seen it in 1977! Image Unavailable, Please Login
