I don't follow you. Are you trying to say that a car dealer is not telling the truth? I'd be shocked...

    judging from the side markers?
it makes perfect sense when the buyer got it for real cheap

Guys do cars with Lexan windows demand a premium due to rarity or is it the same price as non lexan typically? Personally I do like them but I understand that they are not that practical so i can see how some may and some may not like them.

anything in ferrariland which was made in less numbers, as ridiculous or as impractical as it may be, demands a premium...so the answer to your question is yeap! novelty sells....ferrari novelty sells even more.....

Does anyone know anything about the blue car at Black Horse Motors? 29k miles and it's been on the market forever. Are there any stories there?

    According to: Challenge-Stradale.com - Ferrari 360 CS VIN 135215

"Additional info: involved in incident, car went offroad, didn't hit anything but front and rear bumper needed to be replaced, interior has been replaced again and is now black with yellow stitching, aftermarket blue alcantara interior (see 2011 photos), HRE wheels (replaced with OEM wheels), capristo exhaust, blue calipers, hifi sound, CF paddles"

That's another car I was chasing back in 2009. The 2 tone interior was brilliant.

I would be more keen on buying it today if it had that old two tone interior. I don't like that the interior was switched.

How do they emboss the horse logo in the headrests when you do an interior change? Or do they just skip that detail?

Well, as the owner of that car, no one is more perplexed than me. The car is near perfect, and the only 'strike' against it is that the stripe is painted on (as they now do with the Speciale). With $40K of recent maintenance receipts, all the high cost items replaced and average mileage, it seems to me to be the best deal out there. Even the dash material has been replaced with factory OEM alcantara, and looks brand new (most are slightly or worse faded by now). I can only surmise that selling individually is a bit of a problem, and that most people feel more comfortable purchasing through a dealer. Ultimately, whoever purchases the car will realise one of the best deals in the CS world. Any questions, feel free to PM me. As mentioned earlier, heading to the dealer on Friday, will be advertised for about $240000...

The painted stripe is the best part, in my opinion. I know that everyone thinks it's a knock on it but I personally think it's great, even more so if it looks as well executed in person as it does in pictures.

My suspicion is that the CS market has softened considerably - not that they're cheap now or anything. And I don't have any hard data to say that, only that I see good cars sitting on the market and seeing big price reductions.

You probably are right about selling as an individual since you can't offer financing of any kind. A buyer needs to line up their own financing or stroke a big check.

What I also think worked against you are the following:
    - For ~$200k, there are a lot of options available to a buyer outside of a CS. Just in the Ferrari world alone, you could get a Scud, used Italia, used FF.
    - On the flip side, the buyer pool for such a car is very small and they *really* have to have their heart set on a CS in your color scheme.
    - The market is cooling.
    - Didn't give it enough time.

Agree with all of the above. My circumstances have changed, and I decided it was a choice of selling or putting in long term storage. I don't think putting a car like this in storage is the best long term plan, and I also decided to deploy the capital elsewhere. The CS is going to be one of the long term desirable models to own. Regardless, it will sell via the dealer, shame of it is that someone could have had it for far less.

It's all collectibles. Not just the CS.

People got all excited because the economy came back and they put their collectibles on the market for a bunch of $. I think it's healthy. Nothing seems to be dropping in price. Just not really going up.

I wish stuff would crash. I don't want to buy anything at these high prices and I have a lot of cars on my list.

The market has cooled a bit but low mileage CS with factory stripe are moving. Copleymotorcars and Universal Autosports sold their cars the last couple weeks.

Man, what did I miss? Just on to different things? Is there a thread so I don't take this off topic?
