Why am I not surprised that the Broken Spoke's neon is broken?...... ;)

    Seems appropriate somehow! :)

    Cheers,

Man I am SO sorry, this Thursday Pit Walk is NOT the one in the published schedule for the Paddock Club. This one today was associated with PSL seats...

    I tried to reach you!!

At Watkins Glen in '76, it rained steadily all day Saturday. During the morning practice, no one went on track. In the afternoon, one man dared try it - to no one's surprise, it was Ronnie Peterson - and he promptly spun off, so that was that. One car on the track all day long. I spent the day going back and forth between the garage - you could still watch the mechanics work on the cars in those days - and my Chevy Nova, where I had to use the car's heater to dry out my soaken feet!

(In those days, there was qualifying on both Friday and Saturday, so everyone stood on Friday's times. Sunday was cloudy but dry and the race went on - James Hunt's McLaren outlasted Jody Scheckter's Tyrrell 6-wheeler.)

If Saturday qually is rained out, I suspect the cars will line up in order of driver points, which at least would put Seb on the front row!

Sounds (and looks!!:)) like you guys are having a great time.

A bit of bad news, sort of.....Ferrari will take a 10 place grid penalty for using updated engines, er, "power units." I hope they're good enough to make up 10 spots.

No word on how this might affect the stock price.....

So our quest to see the Historic cars ended at the entrance to the tunnel, where we were denied entry without creds. Sooo...we went to the Pit Walk, which was cool. Got some good pics, which I'm about to go through & try to get some up tonight. Loved Rossi's end plates. Got some naked shots of Kvyat's car. I think I'll be looking for a McLaren hat this weekend. Shoulda bought one online already. Oh well.

Went straight to the Fan Forum at Fan Fest. Man, Fan Fest has really been downsized, unless there was more to it thatn what I saw tonight. They've basically taken over the empty lot by Rainey & Chavez & it seems to be self-contained. Didn't walk down Rainey though. Had to get my kid home and into bed for school. Maybe the car displays they had last year were down there. If not, then I think they just aren't having them this year. My 12 yo got interviewed by the pretty Spanish Movistar reporter for a piece they were doing. Pretty cool. He's pretty blown away that he might be on tv back in Spain.

Oh, also re: the weather. Luckily we got through the Pit Walk without any rain ruining it. There were sprinkles here and there, and at one point there was heavy rain right across COTA Blvd for 15 minutes or so, but it blew away from us. The rest of the weekend doesn't look so good though.

Couldn't make it, but may I ask why no more Ferrari Challenge??? Thought it was in much better footing than Porsche, but apparently not. Inquiring minds want to know :).

Brambilla ran on Saturday as well, you may recall he finally completed a lap with his Beta Tools March nose askew. I spent most of Saturday ensconced in an Olds Omega self-medicating. Sunday was chilly but glorious.

The Challenge Schedule went it's own way this year for whatever reason...

At least I got the other side of the neon working, at The Spoke!
    ;) ;)

    Has anyone heard from Sfumato?
    Where is he??

Watching the start of Practice 2 today on the tube. They opened the show with a shot of Big Tex walking by wearing his RED Ferrari jacket. Looks like he had a lady with him, good for Tex. Rain, Rain, Rain.
